With an ever-growing suite of services and applications, we are committed to delivering a cloud experience that is market-leading, proprietary, and built to scale. \nROLE SUMMARY\nFirmus Technologies is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the company’s data centres in Batam, Indonesia. This role is critical in ensuring the highest levels of system availability, performance, and security across all infrastructure operations. It requires a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership capability, and strategic thinking.\nThis is a hands-on position that will serve as the primary interface with infrastructure deployment managers and the compute DevOps delivery team. Longer-term responsibilities include building and maintaining relationships with equipment suppliers across Firmus businesses, developing and executing procurement strategies, and driving initiatives to ensure the successful movement of goods and resources in support of project and company objectives.\nThe role will report to the Head of Operations, Asia. You will also collaborate closely with our global deployment and engineering teams, who will provide product requirements, technical direction, and ongoing specialist support to ensure operational excellence.\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nSafety & Quality: Adhere to all safety, environmental, and quality procedures to maintain a safe and inclusive workplace.\nOperational Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of data centre services, including hardware, software, networking, and environmental controls.\nStrategic Planning: Develop and implement long term strategies for data centre upgrades and optimisation.\nTeam Leadership: Manage and develop a team of data centre professionals, ensuring continuous skill development and effective performance management.\nDisaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Ensure robust disaster recovery plans are in place, and regularly tested for our data centre equipment.\nBudget Management: Develop and manage the budget for data centre operations, including internal and external labour costs.\nCompliance and Security: Ensure all data centre operations comply with relevant laws, regulations and industry standards. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security protocols.\nPerformance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of data centre operations.\nTechnology Trends: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and efficiency in data centre operations.\nStakeholder Communication: Act as primary point of contact for all data centre operations, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders.\nThis role may require availability outside of standard working hours, including nights and weekends, to address urgent issues or to perform scheduled maintenance.\nPeriodic travel across Australia will be required for vendor meetings, site visits, or professional development opportunities.\nSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE\n10+ years’ experience in data centre or critical infrastructure operations, with exposure to high-availability environments\nProven experience leading, building, and developing technical teams, including performance management and succession planning\nStrong people management, judgement, and decision-making capabilities in operational and incident-driven environments\nSolid operational understanding of M&E systems, including power, cooling, and critical plant\nOperational knowledge of compute, storage, and network infrastructure in enterprise or hyperscale environments\nHigh level of technical and computing proficiency, with the ability to engage credibly with engineering teams\nStrong analytical and reporting skills, including operational metrics, incident reporting, and executive-level updates\nKEY COMPETENCY\nData centre & critical infrastructure operations expertise\nHigh-availability, mission-critical environment management\nStrong people leadership, coaching, and performance management\nIncident management, judgement, and decision-making under pressure\nM&E systems knowledge (power, cooling, critical plant)\nCompute, storage, and network infrastructure operations knowledge\nStrategic planning and long-term optimisation capability\nBudgeting, cost control, and procurement strategy\nVendor and supplier relationship management\nCompliance, risk, and security governance\nStakeholder communication and executive-level reporting\nContinuous improvement and technology trend awareness\nLOCATION\nBatam, Indonesia\nEMPLOYMENT BASIS\nFull-Time\nAt Firmus, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
