What We Do

Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including mortgage servicing and subservicing accounting functions, in accordance with the organization’s accounting policies and procedures. Direct and monitor a variety of accounting activities to ensure the organization’s financial resources and mortgage servicing-related transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, reported, and managed in accordance with applicable accounting principles, servicing requirements, and relevant regulations, laws, and standards.

Activities may include accounts payable and receivable; general ledger maintenance; financial analysis and reporting; revenue and asset accounting; mortgage servicing accounting; loan-level accounting; investor and servicing-related financial activity; fee and advance accounting; and related month-end and quarter-end close activities. Review financial reports, accounting statements, reconciliations, and servicing-related financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely resolution of exceptions.

Provide technical accounting expertise and advice to functional and operational leaders to help them understand financial results, manage financial responsibilities, and address accounting matters related to mortgage servicing operations. Partner with servicing, treasury, finance, operations, compliance, and other stakeholders to support accurate financial reporting, appropriate accounting treatment, and effective controls over servicing-related transactions.

Select and manage ongoing relationships with external consultants and advisors, including accounting firms and other service providers, to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service. Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of accounting professionals responsible for general and mortgage servicing accounting activities, ensuring work is completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with established controls, policies, and regulatory requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Meets accounting operational goals by setting standards for contributing financial information to strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving escalated problems; continuously identifying systems improvements
• Meets accounting financial goals by setting standards for collecting and monitoring accounting department annual budget information; monitoring expenditures; identifying variances; implementing corrective action
• Manage accounting systems and procedures; recommend and implement improvements
• Approve bank account reconciliations
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements
• Supervise month end reconciliations, closing and reporting
• Maintains financial security by ensuring that staff adheres to internal controls; provide audit support
• Manages a group of professionals who have responsibility for operations and project outcomes. Provides direct and indirect supervision of teams
• Contributes to project reviews and approves detailed designs and cost estimates for projects
• Participates in long-range departmental planning and provides input to operational decisions and to clarify or modify project plans, and/or schedule requirements
• Writes and conducts employee performance reviews and provides ongoing performance feedback through coaching. Makes hiring and compensation recommendations. May get input from Senior Management/Executive Management

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
• 5-7 years of directly related experience
• 3-5 years demonstrated experience in a supervisory/management role
• Demonstrated success establishing, leading and maintaining effective working relationships a the Middle Management level
• Deep subject matter expertise
• Analytical, project management and problem solving skills
• Successful track record designing, developing, and executing complex projects in area of functional expertise
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at the Management level across global functional groups and business units. Adeptness to influence the thinking of, or gain acceptance from others in sensitive situations, using influence and preventing damage to the relationships
• Strong capacity to communicate the function’s vision and the department’s direction and set aligned goals. Provides resources and creates systems to measure results. Familiar with competitor, financial and industry dynamics
• Actively recruits, retains and develops talent and holds employees accountable for results. Leads change, manages conflict and fosters collaboration
• Drives and models customer loyalty, manages customer expectations, solicits customer feedback and ensures commitments are met
• Provides others with reliable information and delivers informative and persuasive presentations. Uses good listening skills and negotiates effectively
• Collaboratively engages with leaders to create, identify, and implement solutions to further effectiveness of the business
• High level of business acumen, strategic agility, ability to develop others, and influence change

Pay Range: $77,250 - $102,976 annuallyThis hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting. Pay is based on a number of factors which may include job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements and geographic location.
