The IT Software Test Engineer II role is responsible for building robust, scalable, and high-quality test automation solutions. Working on an agile Scrum Team, the IT Software Test Engineer, is responsible for aiding in testing First National’s internal systems with: functional automation testing, API testing and using agile methodologies. The IT Software Test Engineer II role is responsible for code reviews and coaching Junior Test Engineers. \n\nDesign, develop, and maintain scalable and reusable automated test scripts and frameworks for functional, API, and regression testing.\nCreate and enhance automated test cases using modern automation tools and frameworks aligned with team standards and best practices.\nAssist with initial on-the-job training for new IT Test Engineers.\nDemonstrated, hands on experience leveraging AI assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or equivalent) in day-to-day automation test development to accelerate script creation, improve coding efficiency, and enhance overall productivity.\nProven experience independently reviewing, validating, and refining AI generated or AI assisted automation test scripts, ensuring correctness, maintainability, security compliance, and adherence to established coding standards and best practices.\nExecute automated test cases, scripts, and scenarios to validate software functionality and reliability.\nAssist in assessing product quality and release readiness.\nFacilitate creation and execution of automated test suites.\nAnalyze test automation failures and determine the root cause.\nIdentify, report, and track defects by using bug tracking tools, and work closely with development teams to ensure timely resolution.\nAssist with the testing of all programming changes affecting First National’s software, b2b connections, webservice calls, documents, underwriting systems, websites, etc. All testing is to be documented and reviewed before sign-off \nAssist with preparing for the implementation of software and product changes.\nComplete other duties as assigned by the Manager.\n\nSkills and Attributes:\nStrong, practical experience using AI assisted development and test automation tools to design automation solutions, troubleshoot complex automation issues, and consistently improve productivity and delivery outcomes.\nAbility to think independently, problem solve and grasp new concepts quickly.\nStrong programming and scripting skills (e.g., C#, Java, JavaScript)\nStrong capability and desire to learn and innovate in a changing environment.\nStrong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills\nEffective communication skills are crucial for collaborating with cross-functional teams.\nAbility to self-motivate, prioritize, and meet deadlines.\n\nThe Requirements Needed:\nComputer Engineering, Computer Science, related (technical) degree/diploma.\n3-5+ years of experience as a software development engineer in Test (SDET), or a similar role.\nMandatory hands-on experience using AI powered developer tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot or equivalent) for automation test development, code review, and ongoing test maintenance within a professional software delivery environment.\nExperience with AI-powered test automation tools such as Testim.io, Applitools, Mabl, Functionize, or Katalon Studio (AI features).\nUnderstanding of software development methodologies, software testing principles, and quality assurance processes.\nExtensive experience in design and developing robust and reusable automation test framework & infrastructure from scratch.\nExtensive experience using C#, Java or JavaScript and Selenium WebDriver as automation testing tool.\nExtensive experience with source configuration tool (e.g., Git) and issue tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps) \nProficiency with SQL and an understanding of relational database systems\nExtensive experience using API/service testing tools (SoapUI, Postman)\nExperience in TestComplete, Protractor, Cypress, or Playwright is an asset.\nDevelopment background is an asset.\nDeep understanding of agile practices and the Scrum framework.\n\nWhy join First National?\nBright open concept office environment \nLarge kitchens with a coffee and latte maker to enjoy at no cost\nSupportive teamwork focused environment \nCollaborative entrepreneurial spirit \nOpportunities to give back to the communities and work through events focused on a variety of charities \nOngoing social events throughout the year \nExtensive training programs to set our employees up for success\n\nWe would like to thank all applications for their interest in this existing vacancy, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.\n\nFirst National is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to diversity and inclusion regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender identity, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation and any other category protected by law.\n\nFirst National supports requests for accommodation from applicants with disabilities;
