This is a hands-on development role focused on services that support call treatment orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing.\nYou’ll work within a hexagonal, event-driven architecture and collaborate closely with engineering teams across First Orion to develop scalable, reliable services that support carrier-grade communication solutions.\nThis is an individual contributor role with no direct people management responsibilities.\nWhat you'll do:\nBuild, enhance, and own core microservices across the First Orion platform \nDevelop services supporting call treatment orchestration, brand data, analytics, and billing \nDesign and implement solutions using hexagonal and event-driven architecture patterns \nBuild scalable, reliable backend services using Java and Spring Boot \nWork with relational databases, caching technologies, and event-streaming platforms \nContribute to technical design decisions and help improve the reliability and maintainability of services \nTroubleshoot issues and support services throughout the development lifecycle \nCollaborate with distributed engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions \nWhat you'll need:\n5+ years of professional backend or software engineering experience \nStrong experience with Java 21 \nAndroid development knowledge\niOS development knowledge\nFlutter experience\nExperience building services with Spring Boot \nExperience with Gradle using Kotlin DSL \nHands-on experience with PostgreSQL \nExperience working with Redis and Kafka \nUnderstanding of microservice and event-driven architecture \nExperience designing, building, testing, and supporting production services \nStrong problem-solving and communication skills \nAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, distributed environment \nNice to have:\nExperience designing cloud-agnostic applications \nFamiliarity with hexagonal architecture, including ports and adapters \nExperience with MinIO or S3-compatible object storage \nExperience using Vault or similar secrets-management tools \nExperience building high-throughput or low-latency systems \nTelecommunications or real-time call-flow experience \nWhile the position primarily follows local business hours in the employee's country of employment, occasional flexibility may be required to support planned maintenance activities, project implementations, and service escalations across time zones.\nThis position may be based in either the United Kingdom or Dubai, UAE.\nFor UK-based employees, the salary range for this position is £30,800 - £54,100, depending on experience \nCompensation for UAE-based employees will be discussed during the recruitment process and will depend on experience \nCompany Benefits\nOur work environment is energetic, focused, fun, and collaborative.
