At First Place for Youth, inclusivity reigns, creating a workplace where all voices are heard, respected, and empowered.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW: The Human Resources Coordinator is a highly organized, detail-oriented member of the HR team who keeps core HR operations running smoothly so that First Place for Youth staff can focus on helping foster youth build the skills they need for a successful transition to adulthood. This role supports the full employee lifecycle -onboarding, benefits, leave, records, compliance, and offboarding - and serves as a first point of contact for employee HR questions. The coordinator is service-minded, discreet with confidential information, and able to manage multiple priorities accurately in a fast-paced environment. The HR Coordinator will have exceptional communications skills and possess the ability to engage others with diplomacy and confidentiality to build and maintain strong professional working relationships.\nDUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES:\nOnboarding\nConduct or obtain background checks and employment eligibility verifications (Form I-9/E-Verify), and ensure all pre-employment screening is completed in a timely manner.\nAdminister new hire onboarding, including new hire paperwork, system setup coordination, and first-day logistics.\nCoordinate and deliver new hire orientation in collaboration with the HR manager.\nHR Operations\nProvide day-to-day administrative support to the HR team.\nMaintain accurate, secure, and audit-ready personnel files (electronic and hard copy), I-9 records, and Community Care Licensing (CCL) staff documentation.\nEnter and maintain employee data in the HRIS; run standard reports and audit data for accuracy.\nTrack and maintain required staff training documentation\nRespond to the HR inbox and HR ticketing system in a timely, professional manner.\nProcess HR vendor invoices for payment.\nEffectively coordinate with Payroll on related matters\nProcesses documentation and prepares reports relating to personnel activities (i.e., staffing, recruitment, training, compliance filings, etc.)\nCoordinate offboarding, including exit paperwork, system access removal requests.\nBenefits and Workers Compensation\nSupport employees with benefits enrollment and questions; assist with annual open enrollment.\nSupport benefits system administration and monthly HR and benefits invoice payments.\nSupport Workers' Compensation claims documentation and reporting.\nProcess employment verifications, Public Service Loan Forgiveness forms\nProjects, and Compliance\nCoordinate HR projects, including meetings, trainings, and employee surveys.\nCoordinate and prepare documentation for internal and external audits, including licensing and audit reviews.\nReviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory trainings\nMaintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations\nGeneral\nOther duties as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS:\nBachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required\nAt least 2 years of Human Resources or HR administrative experience required.\nA strong dedication to cultural competency that creates conditions that remove barriers and increase a sense of belonging.\nWorking knowledge of core HR functions and employment documentation; familiarity with California employment and leave requirements preferred.\nExperience using an HRIS (data entry, reporting, employee self-service support).\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort learning new technology.\nPersonal and professional integrity, with demonstrated ability to handle confidential personal, financial, and medical information with discretion.\nStrong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail; able to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.\nClear, professional written and verbal communication, with a service-minded and diplomatic approach to supporting employees, managers, and candidates.\nCollaborative work style; able to take direction and work independently as needed.\nNonprofit or human services experience is a plus.
