Purpose\nTo respond to emergency situations and primarily protect people, the environment and property from all types of fire, accidentsand emergencies\n\nThe ERT Supervisor will supervise up to four (4) ERT Team Leaders in an effective manner and ensure that the level of discipline and morale is maintained.\n\nHe/she will be responsible to assistthe ERT Superintendent in any fire and rescue responsibilities.\n\nSpecificJob Responsibility\nManages the ERT Team Leaders to ensure smooth running of ERT Operations.\n\nAssist the ERT Superintendent in carrying out fire prevention, Fire Risk Assessment, Inspections programs.\n\nAssist the ERT Superintendent in the development of SOPs, proceduresand standards for fire safety,\n\nAssist the ERT Superintendent in carrying out investigations of fires and analyze findings to determine the cause of fires.\n\nPrepare written or computerized reports of inspections, incidents, investigations, training and maintainingfiles of all records.\n\nPrepare monthly ERT reports for review,\n\nAssist the ERT Superintendent in the review and approval of plans for construction, installation and operation of equipment and structures to ensure they meet the fire safety requirements,\n\nConduct plan review, installation inspections and permitinspections of fire safety equipment’s on the mine,\n\nIn the absence of the ERT Superintendent, the ERT Supervisor will assume the role of ERT Superintendent and become accountable for all duties and responsibilities of the ERT Superintendent,\n\nSchedule and conduct fire inspection and training for Fire personnel,\n\nAttend daily morning meeting with the ERT Superintendent,\n\nSchedule and Conduct fire training and awareness on the mine for each department,\n\nRespond to major fires, disastersand emergency requests for First Responder (EMS) service and renderappropriate medicalcare.\n\nAttend outside section meetings requiring ERT presence,\n\nThe ERT Supervisor shall be responsible and held accountable for insuring proper disciplinary and action is carried out if the Team Leaders are found to be in violation of codes and conduct according to their Job Description,\n\nThe ERT Supervisor shall assistthe ERT Superintendent to coordinate all training activities and will ensure all personnel in the ERT Team is receiving adequate training in all areas in order toperform his/her duties and functions in a safe manner,\n\nPerform other related duties as required.\n\nPromote fire and enforce fire safety standards in the mine by acting and advising on all matters relating to the protection of life and property from fire and other risks and ensure a smooth running of ERT functions\n\nJob Specific Competencies\nAviation fire and rescue (for KTDC following areas:\nAt least 3-5 years’ experience in relevant field preferably in the mining industry,\n\nAbility to establishand maintain effective working relationships with the personnel of the Department,\n\nExtensive knowledge of the geography of Kalumbila Mine,\n\nThorough knowledge of fire prevention practices, emergency medical first responder, firefighting and rescue techniques and the scientific principles involved in fire suppression and fire behavior,\n\nConsiderable knowledge of explosives, hazardous properties and potential reactions of chemicals, liquidsand gases as well as the combustion qualities of materials used in the construction of commercial and residential buildings and above ground storage tanks\n\nConsiderable knowledge of the use of firefighting tools and equipment\n\nConsiderable knowledge of teaching methods and the ability to train and instruct ERT personnel and mine employees,\n\nAbility to recognize existing or potential fire hazards in a wide variety of structures or installations.\n\nAbility to evaluate fires, recognizesdanger, and takes the necessary action for the protection of lives and property.\n\nAbility to recognize signs and symptoms of unsafe building conditions under fire conditions and when interior operations should cease.\n\nAbility to communicate clearly on radio or mobile data communication devices\n\nAbility to express ideas clearly, concisely, orally and in writing to groups and individuals.\n\nOral and written communication skills necessary for accuratedocumentation of various required reports,\n\nAbility to utilizecomputerized record keeping programs\n\nKnowledge of the principles and practices of building construction\n\nAbility to plan, coordinate, and supervise activities of subordinate personnel.\n\nTeam player,\n\nComputer literate a must,\n\nAnalytical and problem solving,\n\nDecision making skills,\n\nSafety Management\n\nQualifications\nGrade 12 certificate with a merit in English, Science and Mathematics\n\nDiploma in related field or Degree in Fire Science is an added plus.\n\nHaving Passed Fire Service Statutory Examinations Leading Fire-Fighter, Sub/Officers, Station Fire Officer or equivalent FF1, FF2 or IFE qualifications,\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS)\n\nInternational Trauma Life Support (ITLS),\n\nFire prevention,\n\nSelf-Contained Breathing Apparatus Certificate (SCBA),\n\nVehicle Extrication Certificate,\n\nHazmat training for first responders Certificate,\n\nConfined Space Rescue,\n\nFirst aid for mining Certificate,\n\nRope Rescue Technician/High angle Rescue certificate,\n\nOccupation Health and Safety Certificate an added advantage,\n\nKnowledge of administration, budgetsand human resource management an added
