At First Solar we strive to foster a culture that encourages innovation through collaboration, urging colleagues to take smart risks, learning from failures and course correcting, and owning personal accountability for contributing to our mission.\n\nExpected Length of Internship:\nPositions available for 2027 Spring semesters, in First Solar’s Perrysburg, OH Manufacturing and Technology Center (near Toledo).\n\nAs an internship company, we allow flexibility to enroll in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the essential functions of the position.\n\nEducation/Experience:\nMechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Undergraduate students.\n\nOverall G.P.A. greater than or equal to 3.00 (based upon 4.0 scale).\n\nPreference may be given to candidates who are available to fulfill multiple terms.\n\nFirst Solar encourages all interns to register their internship with their university.\n\nRequired Skills/Competencies:\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication.\n\nAbility to work in cross-functional teams to deliver concrete project deliverables in a timely manner.\n\nWillingness to learn.\n\nFlexible and adaptable.\n\nAbility to identify, diagnose, and solve problems.\n\nDemonstrates an analytic approach to problem solving.\n\nProficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs.\n\nLegal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.\n\nAbility to travel within the US.\n\nBasic Internship Scope (Project):\nDevelop an understanding of the First Solar business model and our technology environment.\n\nParticipate in the co-op program and work-specific training and development.\n\nPerform analytical project work.\n\nWork collaboratively with multiple departments within First Solar.\n\nParticipate in, or lead, meetings with First Solar staff and/or customers.\n\nWork with experienced professionals in the performance of responsibilities; check in regularly with assigned mentor.\n\nLead a minimum of one engineering based project with end of term reporting; potential topics could be: New Product Design/Business Case Assessment, Competitor Roadmap Benchmarking Research, or Power Plant Energy Prediction Analysis.\n\nUpon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team.\n\nEstimated Salary Range:\n$22.00 - $25.00/hr\n\nUS Physical Requirements:\nWill sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.\nWill climb stairs on an occasional basis.\nWill lift, push or pull up to 37 pounds on an occasional basis. \nRequired to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.\n20/40 vision in both eyes together, with or without correction, is required.\nMust be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.\nMay reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.\nMay stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.\nAbility to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards, and a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair) for those requiring respirator use.\n\nAll positions in our office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
