You’ll join a close-knit team that values collaboration, safety, and community connection.\nWhy Join First as a Diesel Mechanic?\nPay Details: Dependent on experience and qualifications.\n\n$43.34/hr\n\nBonus rate increase available for each ASE School Bus Series test passed and maintained (up to $2/hour more).\n\n$5,000 sign on bonus\n\nMonday-Friday day shift schedule with consistent, year-round work.\n\nCompany-paid ASE testing and training materials.\n\nPaid holidays and vacation time.\n\nAnnual allowances for boots and prescription safety glasses.\n\nDiscounts on cell phone plans, vehicles, and more through the PerkSpot program.\n\nEmployee Assistance Program (EAP): Counseling and support services for personal and work-related issues.\n\nAbout the Diesel Technician Position\nAs a Diesel Technician with First Student, you will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.\nDiesel Technician key responsibilities include:\nEnsure vehicles are maintained and safe for our passengers.\n\nDiagnose and perform all phases of vehicle maintenance including the repair of brakes and brake inspections, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.\n\nPerform preventive maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections.\n\nComplete work orders accurately.\n\nAssist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.\n\nDiesel Technician Qualifications\nAt least 5 years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience, or equivalent technical school education and experience.\n\nVehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.\n\nValid driver’s license required.\n\nPossession of a mechanic’s tool set to complete all assigned duties.\n\nWillingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided).\n\nStrong computer skills.\n\nNote: This position is subject to background check\n\nTake the wheel and drive your career forward with First Student!
