First Student is hiring an Operations Supervisor to help lead daily service for New Haven Public Schools.\nYou’ll work closely with the Location Manager, dispatchers, drivers, and maintenance team to keep buses ready and routes covered. If you have transportation experience and are ready to take on more responsibility, this position offers an opportunity to build your management career.\nPay and Benefits\n $72,500-$79,000 annual salary\nMedical, dental, and vision coverage\n401(k) retirement savings plan with company match\nPaid time off and paid holidays\nEmployee Assistance Program for personal and work-related support\nEmployee discounts through PerkSpot\nAccess to earned wages before payday through Chime® MyPay at Work™ *\nSalt® Rewards Program for employee savings and rewards\nTraining and career advancement opportunities within operations and management\nBenefits and programs are subject to eligibility and applicable plan terms.\nWhat You’ll Do\nSupervise daily bus operations and help maintain safe, dependable service.\nPromote safe work practices, address concerns, and take corrective action when needed.\nEnsure drivers have the paperwork needed to complete their routes.\nCollect completed charter paperwork and provide it to the Location Manager for processing.\nAssign drivers and vehicles for field trips and charter service.\nHelp drivers establish route descriptions under the Location Manager’s direction.\nCoordinate with drivers and maintenance staff to ensure scheduled fueling and mechanical work are completed.\nSupport dispatch and help resolve daily coverage and service issues.\nReview employee time sheets before submission to payroll.\nAssist with training sessions, school-year kickoff meetings, and employee communication.\nAttend disciplinary meetings with the Location Manager.\nCommunicate with school officials on routine operational matters as assigned.\nEnsure routes meet applicable state, local, and customer requirements.\nProvide occasional bus-driving coverage when necessary and appropriately licensed.\nAssist with oversight of smaller operations under the Location Manager’s direction.\nWhat You’ll Need\nThree to five years of transportation industry experience\nGood supervisory skills and the ability to provide clear direction\nStrong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills\nComputer proficiency\nAbility to manage changing priorities and follow through on daily responsibilities\nAvailability to work Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., with weekend on-call responsibilities as needed\nThis position is subject to DOT drug testing and a physical.
