The Route Supervisor provides hands-on coaching, promotes teamwork, and supports continuous improvements in daily operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nRoute Operations & Dispatch\nSupervise daily transportation operations, ensuring routes are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.\nCoordinate with dispatch to manage route assignments, vehicle availability, and driver coverage.\nMonitor daily route performance and address operational challenges or service disruptions.\nCollaborate with driver supervisors, administrative personnel, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.\nRespond to driver concerns and resolve transportation-related issues promptly.\nMaintain effective communication with customers, transportation authorities, and other stakeholders.\nDriver Supervision & Team Development\nProvide guidance, coaching, and ongoing support to drivers and operational employees.\nPromote a positive work environment through training, constructive feedback, and leading by example.\nAssist with interviewing, selecting, and onboarding new drivers.\nSupport employee training, development, and performance improvement.\nAssist the Location Manager with employee relations and workforce planning.\nSafety & Compliance\nEnsure compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable transportation regulations.\nPromote safe driving practices and a strong safety culture.\nParticipate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee.\nAssist with accident investigations, incident reporting, and WSIB-related documentation.\nEnsure compliance with Ontario transportation legislation and CVOR requirements.\nAdministrative & Operational Support\nAssist with route planning, scheduling, and operational reporting.\nSupport budget preparation and operational cost management.\nPrepare monthly operational reports, including fuel usage, payroll, and other key performance measures.\nCoordinate off-site vehicle parking arrangements and maintain accurate records.\nSupport fuel card administration and vehicle maintenance coordination.\nAssist with implementing company policies, procedures, and operational initiatives.\nPerform additional duties and special projects as assigned.\nQualifications\nCollege diploma or university degree preferred.\n1-3 years of supervisory or management experience, preferably in school bus transportation or a related industry.\nStrong understanding of transportation operations, route scheduling, and dispatch procedures.\nDemonstrated leadership, coaching, and problem-solving skills.\nExcellent communication, organizational, and customer service abilities.\nKnowledge of applicable transportation safety regulations and Ontario's Highway Traffic Act.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.\nBasic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.\nAbility to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nAppropriate driver's licence(s), as required for the position.\nCompensation: $50,000\nWork Environment\nThis position operates in both an office and bus yard environment.
