There will be travel involved in North Canton and Wadsworth, OH., area.\nThe Building Mechanic participates in the inspection, maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and other building/facility systems at various locations as needed. There is a primary focus on safety and teamwork in getting the work completed. The main objective is to ensure building assets are maintained to achieve maximum useful life and safe operation.\nThis position may be called upon to have a greater participation with Plumbingand HVAC systems but still be able to perform all responsibilities. The position reports to the Supervisor, Facility Operations.\nResponsibilities include:\nParticipates in all Company safety programs and practices and promotes safe work methods in all activities. Maintains a high level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day functions.\nDemonstrates knowledge of the Company's safety philosophy, its principles, and rules which govern safe working practices and the ability to work and direct work safely and in full compliance with these philosophies, principles, and rules.\nPerforms work assignments including breakdown maintenance, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, room set-ups, service requests, jurisdictional inspections, among other things.\nCoordinates and administers preventative and corrective maintenance program at FE facilities.\nWorks independently or with others to perform Plumbingmaintenance, reviews contractor corrective maintenance proposals and performs corrective maintenance when appropriate.\nMonitors daily operation of energy management systems at specified facilities, including after hours, holidays, and weekends when on call\nPerform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plumbing and building systems.\nTroubleshoot and repair domestic water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, and plumbing systems.\nInstall, repair, and maintain piping, valves, pumps, fixtures, drains, faucets, toilets, urinals, sinks, and related plumbing equipment.\nDiagnose and repair water leaks, clogged drains, low water pressure, failed valves, and other plumbing issues.\nMaintain and repair domestic hot-water systems, mixing valves, recirculation systems, and associated equipment.\nPerform inspection and maintenance of backflow prevention devices and coordinate required testing.\nMaintain sump pumps, sewage ejectors, lift stations, condensate pumps, and related drainage equipment.\nTroubleshoot and maintain building mechanical systems as it relates to plumbing and water systems.\nRespond to emergency plumbing issues, including leaks, flooding, sewer backups, and equipment failures.\nPerform building inspections and identify potential plumbing deficiencies before they become failures.\nComplete scheduled preventive maintenance work orders in the facility CMMS.\nDocument work performed, parts used, equipment deficiencies, and follow-up requirements in the CMMS.\nPrioritize and respond to service requests based on urgency, operational impact, and safety.\nAssist with facility shutdowns, system isolations, and equipment changeovers.\nCoordinate with contractors and outside service providers on plumbing projects and repairs.\nMonitor contractor work to ensure compliance with facility requirements, safety procedures, and scope of work.\nRead and interpret plumbing drawings, schematics, equipment manuals, and facility documentation.\nAssist with building renovations, equipment installations, and capital improvement projects involving plumbing systems.\nMaintain an accurate inventory of plumbing parts, materials, tools, and equipment.\nMaintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.\nOperate lifts, hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance equipment as required.\nSupport other Facilities Maintenance trades when needed, including HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.\nParticipate in an on-call or emergency-response rotation as required.\nFollow all applicable OSHA requirements, building codes, company safety policies, and environmental requirements.\nIdentify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, energy efficiency, preventive maintenance, and facility operations.\nPerform other facilities maintenance duties as assigned.\nEnsure change management protocols are followed.\nMust be able to work shift work and overtime as assigned; must be able to work scheduled weekends shifts. Position may require overnight stays as needed.\nRespond to support operational and emergency situations 24/7.\nQualifications include:\nHigh School diploma or GED equivalent required.\nTrade School or Apprenticeship Program preferred.\nMinimum five (5) yearsofcommercial, industrial, institutional, or facilities plumbing experience\nStrong knowledge of commercial plumbing systems and building infrastructure.\nMust have a valid driver’s license and be willing and able to travel within the regional service territory.\nMust be able to read and work from blueprints.\nMust be physically capable of lifting up to 75 pounds and carrying up to 50 pounds.\nProficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and interact with facility management software programs.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate information on equipment and systems.\nDemonstrate the ability to plan, coordinate, and lead a job from start to finish.\nMay be required to work variable shifts which include evenings, weekends and holidays, if necessary.
