This role maintains accurate accounting records for Cost of Sale accounts, supports monthly, quarterly and year-end close cycle, and performs account reconciliations. The Staff Accountant works closely with finance, accounting and operation teams to ensure that network-related costs are recorded accurately and on time.\nKey Responsibilities\nComplete general ledger account analysis and monthly accrual calculations for Cost of Sale accounts.\nPrepare and post journal entries with complete supporting documentation.\nAnalyze account balances and variances, research discrepancies, and prepare correcting entries.\nSupport monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities and meet established deadlines.\nIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting accuracy.\nCollaborate with internal departments and respond to accounting-related requests.\nSupport ad-hoc accounting projects\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.\n2-5 years of general accounting experience\nWorking knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and accrual accounting.\nStrong Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.\nStrong attention to detail, analytical judgment, and follow-through.\nClear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.\nStrong ERP skills, Netsuite a plus\nAbout FirstLight\nFirstLight provides fiber-optic data, Internet, data center, cloud and voice services to enterprise and carrier customers throughout the Northeast connecting more than 13,000 locations in service with more than 125,000 locations serviceable by our more than 25,000-route mile network.
