You will own the engineering execution for a product or technology area, work closely with Product and other stakeholders, and ensure that the team builds systems that are scalable, reliable, maintainable and business-focused. This is a player-coach role - you will continue to write code and make critical technical decisions while managing and mentoring a team of engineers.\n\nTechnical Leadership :\n\n- Own the technical direction and engineering execution for a product/technology area.\n\n- Design and review scalable backend systems, APIs, services and data flows.\n\n- Make pragmatic architecture and technology decisions balancing speed, scale and maintainability.\n\n- Identify and solve complex technical problems across performance, reliability, scalability and system design.\n\n- Establish strong engineering practices around code quality, testing, observability and documentation.\n\n- Participate actively in design reviews and critical code reviews.\n\nHands-on Engineering:\n\n- Remain hands-on with coding and contribute to critical parts of the system.\n\n- Build and evolve high-scale backend services and APIs.\n\n- Debug production issues and drive root-cause analysis for complex problems.\n\n- Work on performance optimisation, reliability and system scalability.\n\nTech Stack :\n\n- Strong experience in Golang or Python is expected.\n\nTeam Management & Mentorship :\n\n- Manage and mentor a team of engineers.\n\n- Set clear technical and execution expectations for the team.\n\n- Conduct regular 1:1s, provide feedback and support career development.\n\n- Build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, quality and execution.\n\n- Participate in hiring, onboarding and developing engineering talent.\n\n- Help engineers grow into stronger individual contributors and future technical leaders.\n\nProduct & Business Collaboration :\n\n- Partner closely with Product, Design, Data and Business teams to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions.\n\n- Understand product and customer problems, not just technical requirements.\n\n- Influence product decisions through technical feasibility, trade-offs and data.\n\n- Balance short-term delivery with long-term engineering health.\n\nScale & Reliability :\n\n- Build systems capable of supporting significant user and transaction growth.\n\n- Work on high-traffic consumer-facing products and distributed systems.\n\n- Drive improvements in system performance, availability and observability.\n\n- Contribute to engineering standards for production readiness and operational excellence.\n\nWhat is needed for this role :\n\n- 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with strong experience in building production systems.\n\n- Strong hands-on expertise in Golang or Python.\n\n- Experience working on consumer-facing / B2C products.\n\n- Experience managing and mentoring an engineering team.\n\n- Experience building and scaling systems handling high traffic / high request volumes.\n\n- Strong understanding of backend architecture, distributed systems, databases, APIs and cloud infrastructure.\n\n- Experience with 10K+ RPM scale or comparable high-throughput systems.\n\n- Experience working with products having significant user scale (1L+ DAU preferred).\n\n- Strong product thinking and ability to understand the business impact of engineering decisions.\n\n- Strong ownership, execution and problem-solving mindset.\n\nGood to Have :\n\n- Experience in a high-growth startup or product-led technology company.\n\n- Experience working with AWS and modern cloud-native infrastructure.\n\n- Exposure to data engineering, analytics, personalisation or AI/ML systems.\n\n- Experience with transactional systems such as payments, orders or commerce platforms.\n\n- Experience taking products/features from concept to production.\n\n- Experience working in environments with rapidly changing requirements and high execution velocity.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like :\n\nIn the first 6 -
