or\nAdmitted for up to 2 years post-admission experience.\n\nThe successful candidate will work closely with the Legal Manager across a broad range of legal, regulatory, commercial, and governance matters within the financial services and payments environment.This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious legal professional seeking exposure to fintech, payments, financial services regulation, commercial contracting, litigation management, product commercialisation, and corporate governance.The role offers significant learning and development opportunities, with the expectation that the successful candidate will progressively build the knowledge and confidence required to operate with increasing independence. \nKey Responsibilities:\nThe successful candidate will support the Legal Manager in:\nCommercial ContractingDrafting, reviewing, interpreting and negotiating commercial agreements.\nReviewing supplier, client, service provider, technology and confidentiality agreements.\nManaging the contract lifecycle process from initiation through execution and record management.\nIdentifying legal and commercial risks within agreements and proposing practical solutions.\n\nLegal AdvisoryConducting legal research and analysis.\nDrafting legal opinions, memoranda and advisory notes.\nProviding practical legal guidance to business stakeholders.\nAdvising on legal risks associated with products, projects and operational initiatives.\n\nDispute Resolution and Litigation ManagementCoordinating and managing disputes involving the company.\nLiaising with and managing external legal counsel.\nAssisting with implementing litigation strategy and matter management.\nReviewing pleadings, legal correspondence and settlement proposals.\n\nRegulatory and Financial Services SupportProviding support on legal and regulatory matters relating to financial services, payments sector, data privacy, technology services and other related commercialisation initiatives.\nAssisting with the interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements.\n\nGovernance and Legal OperationsMaintaining legal matter registers and trackers.\nManaging legal repositories and contract databases.\nSupporting governance and committee reporting.\nCoordinating contract execution and administration processes.\n\n Minimum RequirementsQualificationsLLB degree.\nAwaiting admission as an Attorney or admitted Attorney with up to 2 years post-admission experience.\n\nExperienceExposure to commercial law through articles, in-house legal experience, or legal practice.\nExperience drafting, reviewing or negotiating agreements.\nExperience conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions or legal memoranda.\n\nAdvantageousExposure to:Financial services;\nBanking;\nPayments;\nInsurance;\nInvestments;\nFintech;\nRegulatory compliance.\n\nExposure to litigation and dispute resolution matters.\nExperience working with commercial contracts.\n\nJob Details\nTake note that applications will not be accepted on the below date and onwards, kindly submit applications ahead of the closing date indicated below.\n17/10/26All appointments will be made in line with FirstRand Group’s Employment Equity plan.
