{"id":2069998,"url":"https://alion.io/job/firstsource-patient-advocate-specialist-3","title":"Patient Advocate Specialist","company":{"id":1795846,"name":"Firstsource","domain":"firstsource.com","url":"https://alion.io/company/firstsource","size_band":"201-500","is_staffing_agency":false,"employer_type":"direct","is_intermediary":false,"listed_via":null,"ats_vendor":"SuccessFactors","truth_index":null},"role":"Legal","role_family":"Legal","seniority":null,"employment_type":null,"work_mode":"remote","remote_scope":"stated_countries","remote_scope_basis":"board_field","remote_working_hours":{"label":"EST","utc_offset_min":-5,"utc_offset_max":-5},"hiring_geo_confidence":"structured","locations":["Louisville, United States"],"countries":["US"],"hiring_countries":["US"],"hiring_countries_total":1,"salary":{"min":17,"max":null,"currency":"USD","period":"hour","gross":null,"usd_annual":34000},"salary_estimate":null,"experience_years_min":null,"visa_sponsorship":false,"relocation_package":false,"has_equity":false,"technologies":[],"status":"live","first_seen_at":"2026-10-01T00:00:00Z","employer_posted_date":"2026-10-01","last_verified_at":"2026-10-22T01:25:03Z","board_verified":true,"closed_at":null,"days_open":21,"trust":{"level":"ok","repost_count":null,"flags":[],"days_open":21},"description":"Patient Advocate Specialist\nLocation: REMOTE\nHours: Monday-Friday 11:30am - 8pm EST\nPay Range: $17 hourly\nThe goal of the Patient Advocate Specialist is to successfully resolve account balances for medical services provided by multiple healthcare facilities to patients by, contacting the patients by telephone and screen them to determine if the patient is eligible for state, county, and federal assistance programs.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nScreen patients for eligibility of State and Federal programs\nIdentify all areas of patients’ needs and assist them with an application for the appropriate State or Federal agency for assistance\nInitiate the application process when possible\nAdvise patients of the appropriate assistance program(s) to best suit their individual needs\nProvide detailed instructions to patients regarding securing all available program benefits\nAdvise patients of program time limitations and ensure that all deadlines are met\nComplete all necessary steps in locating patients and involving the outside field staff when necessary\nObtain all necessary information from patients upon the initial contact when possible\nRecord thorough and accurate documentation on patient accounts in the CUBS system\nAll documentation in the CUBS system should be clear and concise\nMaintain a positive relationship with patients throughout the entire application process\nAssess the status and progress of applications\nContact government agencies when necessary\nFollow-up with assigned accounts until every avenue is exhausted in trying to secure benefits for the patients or the patient is approved for a program and billing information is obtained\nOther duties as assigned or required by client contract\nAdditional Duties and Responsibilities:\nMaintain good working relationships with State and Federal agencies\nResolve accounts in a timely manner\nMeet daily productivity goals and objectives as assigned by management\nMaintain confidentiality of account information at all times \nAdhere to prescribed policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook and the Employee Code of Conduct\nMaintain awareness of and actively participate in the Corporate Compliance Program\nMaintain a neat and orderly workstation\nAssist with other projects as assigned by management\nEducational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:\nHigh school diploma or equivalent is required\nPrefer previous customer service/call center experience\nPrefer previous experience with medical coding or billing\nProficient PC knowledge and the ability to type 30-40 wpm\nAbility to effectively work and communicate with coworkers, patients, and outside agencies\nAbility to present oneself in a courteous and professional manner at all times\nAbility to stay on task with little or no management supervision\nDemonstrate initiative and creativity in fulfilling job responsibilities\nExcellent organization skills\nAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a busy work environment\nReliability of task completion and follow-up\nWorking Conditions:\nMust be able to sit for extended periods of time\nFor Remote Work from Home - must have a quiet, private area to perform work\nBenefits including but not limited to: Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, Paid Time Off\nWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
