We strive to assist our businesses in meeting their objectives with sound, reasonable and well-considered legal counsel and compliance analysis and support.\nAbout the Role\nAs Product Counsel, you will serve as a strategic legal partner for assigned financial technology products and services. You will provide practical, risk-calibrated advice throughout the product lifecycle, from early design and development through launch, commercialization, ongoing support and retirement. You will collaborate with product, technology, sales, compliance, privacy, security and business leaders to support responsible innovation, efficient contracting and client trust. Success requires strong legal judgment, technical fluency and the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable business guidance.\nWhat You Will Do\nOwn the legal strategy for assigned products throughout development, launch, commercialization, ongoing support and retirement.\nAdvise stakeholders on product design, delivery models, data flows, regulatory requirements and third-party dependencies.\nDevelop legal roadmaps aligned with product milestones, required approvals, contract readiness and go-to-market plans.\nCounsel business teams on banking, payments, data, privacy, security, intellectual property and consumer protection matters.\nDraft, negotiate and maintain product terms, commercial agreements, specifications, pricing attachments and client-facing documentation.\nSupport sales negotiations, strategic partnerships, requests for proposals and client discussions involving complex product issues.\nCoordinate with compliance and legal specialists to deliver consistent, practical guidance and resolve cross-functional dependencies.\nAdvise on vendor relationships, subcontracting, service levels, audits, incident response and operational commitments.\nIdentify recurring legal and negotiation issues, then develop scalable templates, playbooks, training and escalation guidance.\nSupport product-related disputes and operational matters through factual analysis, risk assessment and practical resolution strategies.\nWhat you Bring\nJuris Doctor degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.\nSeven or more years of relevant legal experience supporting financial services, fintech, technology or enterprise software businesses.\nDemonstrated experience advising products throughout development, commercialization, contracting, support and lifecycle management.\nStrong drafting and negotiation skills across technology agreements, product terms and complex commercial transactions.\nAbility to evaluate multifaceted legal and regulatory issues and provide clear, risk-calibrated recommendations.\nTechnical fluency sufficient to understand product architecture, data flows, delivery models and technology-related legal risks.\nStrong stakeholder-management skills and experience partnering with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.\nAbility to prioritize high-volume, business-critical work and drive complex projects to timely completion.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience supporting banking, payments, data, artificial intelligence, fraud, financial crime or enterprise platform products.\nKnowledge of privacy, data protection, cybersecurity, intellectual property and technology governance requirements.\nExperience advising banks, credit unions, payment providers or other regulated financial services organizations.\nFamiliarity with software-as-a-service, hosted, cloud, on-premise, application programming interface or integrated delivery models.\nExperience developing scalable contract templates, legal playbooks, training materials and process improvements.\nExperience supporting client audits, security reviews, vendor risk assessments and third-party technology relationships.\nWhy FIS\nFIS’s dedicated Product Counsel structure reflects the company’s view that embedded product legal support is essential to innovation, speed to market, risk mitigation and customer trust.
