You will accomplish this by maintaining and adding new features, investigating/resolving bugs, creating helpful documentation, and re-architecting our system to achieve better scalability and availability.\nAs part of the Growth and Merchant Self-Service team, you will be responsible for building applications that define the user experience on the Clover Dashboard. Partnering with Infrastructure, Product, and Design teams, you will be pragmatic in balancing priorities and enjoy working in an iterative model where specifications are constantly evolving. You will own your services from development through deployment, mentor junior talent, and help drive the technical roadmap for products that support over 700k merchants worldwide.\nWhat you will do:\nArchitect, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using React, TypeScript, and modern CSS/HTML.\nDesign, build, and maintain containerized microservices and high-throughput REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.\nDesign asynchronous workflows and distributed messaging pipelines using pub/sub messaging systems (Google pub/sub, Kafka etc.) to handle real-time data synchronization, merchant event delivery, and decoupled background processing.\nEvaluate and recommend modern frameworks, technologies, and tools, and execute processes.\nIdentify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with realistic project planning and feature development; translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, extensible software that is in-line with company objectives\nTake end-to-end ownership of services through testing, CI/CD deployment, production monitoring, distributed tracing, and regular on-call rotation.\nPartner with Infrastructure teams to design relational schemas (MySQL), optimize data pipelines, and re-architect existing systems for high availability, fault tolerance, and low latency.\nCollaborate with cross-functional, distributed agile teams with the flexibility to work across time zones.\nConduct code and architecture reviews, champion distributed system best practices, and mentor engineers across the team.\nCoach and mentor engineers to deliver efficient, extensible solutions and improve their technical and leadership skills.\nAdvocate engineering best practices with active engagement leveraging agile methods and a CI/CD DevOps mindset.\nTriage bugs and the impact on product or service operations and quality with a focus on customer centricity\nPrioritize and multi-task between projects with the ability to handle changing priorities.\nExcellent team player with strong empathy and critical thinking skills.\nWhat you will need to have:\nDegree in Computer Science or Engineering field or related experience\n5+ years of professional software engineering experience building full-stack web applications.\nStrong backend engineering background with Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.\nProven frontend expertise using React, TypeScript, and modern state management.\nSolid experience with relational databases, data modeling, and query optimization (MySQL preferred).\nHands-on experience owning services in production, including CI/CD pipelines, containerized environments, and cloud monitoring tools.\nWhat would be great to have:\nExperience designing event streams, schema management, and message ordering/deduplication patterns at scale.\nFamiliarity with Kotlin and Python\nPrevious experience in the payments or fintech industry\nBackground in re-architecting systems for high availability and scalability\nSalary Range\n$128,000.00 - $216,000.00These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York.
