Based in India and reporting to a manager in the United States, this role will have a primary focus on processing U.S. payroll in Workday while also supporting India payroll, employees engaged through Employer of Record (EOR) and Professional Employer Organization (PEO) arrangements, and payroll activities in other countries.\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on payroll professional who can move comfortably between payroll processing, audits, vendor coordination, reconciliations, and employee support. This position requires a high degree of accuracy, sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to work effectively across time zones and cultures. The work schedule will include regular overlap with U.S. business hours, either Pacific or Eastern time, as business needs require.\nWhat You’ll Do\nProcess multi-state U.S. payroll for exempt and non-exempt employees using Workday Payroll, including regular wages, bonuses, commissions, equity transactions, leaves, and final payments.\nPerform end-to-end payroll activities, including reviewing inputs, validating calculations, running audits, resolving discrepancies, preparing payroll registers, and supporting payroll approval and settlement.\nCoordinate payroll for workers engaged through EOR and PEO providers.\nSupport India payroll processing and review, including payroll inputs, statutory deductions and contributions, employee changes, terminations, reconciliations, and coordination with local payroll partners.\nMonitor payroll cases and ticket queues; respond to employee questions regarding pay, taxes, deductions, benefits, time off, and payroll timing with accuracy, empathy, and clear ownership through resolution.\nPartner with payroll vendors and internal teams to investigate and resolve payroll issues, track open items, meet cutoffs, and ensure timely follow-through.\nSupport payroll accounting activities, including payroll journals, accruals, and investigation of payroll-to-general-ledger differences.\nMaintain payroll documentation, calendars, checklists, standard operating procedures, and country-specific process information to support controls and cross-training.\nAssist with internal and external audits, SOX controls, year-end activities, statutory reporting, and other payroll compliance requirements.\nContribute to payroll implementations, integrations, testing, process improvements, and automation initiatives across Workday and the broader global payroll environment.\nBuild trusted relationships with HR, HRIS, Accounting, Finance, Tax, Benefits, Equity, Legal, and external payroll partners across regions and time zones.\nSkills We’re Looking For\n5+ years of payroll experience, including hands-on responsibility for payroll processing, audits, reconciliations, and employee support.\n3+ years of hands-on U.S. payroll processing experience using Workday Payroll and Workday Time Tracking.\nWorking knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local payroll taxation and wage-and-hour requirements, including multi-state payroll.\nHands-on India payroll experience, including familiarity with common statutory payroll requirements and local payroll practices.\nExperience supporting payroll through EOR and/or PEO providers across multiple countries.\nExperience managing employee inquiries through a case-management or ticketing system and communicating complex payroll topics clearly.\nStrong Microsoft Excel skills, including lookups, pivot tables, formulas, data validation, and reconciliation of large data sets.\nDemonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and success meeting multiple payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones.\nAbility to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment.\nAbility to work a schedule that provides regular overlap with U.S. Pacific or Eastern business hours.\nExperience with ADP SmartCompliance.\nExperience supporting payroll operations in additional countries or regions beyond the United States and India.\nPayroll accounting experience, including journals, accruals, and general ledger reconciliation.\nExperience with payroll implementations, acquisitions, integrations, user acceptance testing, or process automation.\nExperience working in a SOX-controlled and high-growth global environment.\nPerks and Benefits\n100% employer-paid medical insurance*\nGenerous paid time away from work, including paid vacation or flexible/unlimited vacation depending on role and country, plus paid sick time, inclusive parental leave, paid holidays, including a year-end Global Week of Rest, and volunteer days off.\nRSU stock grants*\nProfessional development and training opportunities\nCompany virtual happy hours, free food, and fun team-building activities\nMonthly cell phone stipend\nAccess to an innovative mental health support platform that offers personalized care and resources in areas such as: therapy, coaching, and self-guided mindfulness exercises for all covered employees and their covered dependents.\n* May vary by country and worker type - please reach out to your recruiter for more information\nClick here to learn more about Fivetran's Benefits by Region.\nWe’re honored to be valued at over $5.6 billion, but more importantly, we’re proud of our core values of Get Stuck In, Do the Right Thing, and One Team, One Dream.
