The majority of the work will be grounds maintenance, including grass cutting, use of hand-held and ride-on equipment, maintaining shrub beds and annual bedding, sports facility maintenance, landscaping, litter picking and supporting responses to fly-tipping. The role may also involve street services duties when required.\nA full clean driving licence is essential for this role. The role also requires related experience in a similar environment, good health and safety awareness, ability to work as part of a team, and flexibility to work outside core hours where required.\nImportant - Please Read Carefully\nThis is a hands-on outdoor grounds maintenance role.\nYou must hold a clean current driving licence and have related experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, street services, environmental services, parks, open spaces, horticulture or a similar manual outdoor environment.\nCandidates without a clean driving licence and relevant outdoor/manual grounds experience are unlikely to be considered.\nKey Responsibilities\nCarry out grounds maintenance across open spaces, verges, schools and contracted sites\n\nUndertake grass cutting using hand-held and ride-on equipment\n\nMaintain shrub beds, planting areas and annual bedding\n\nMark and maintain sports facilities\n\nUndertake landscaping of open spaces\n\nCarry out arboriculture-related work where trained\n\nEmpty litter bins and carry out litter picking\n\nRespond to fly-tipping service requests and follow evidence collection processes\n\nSupport cemetery-related tasks, including grave digging, where trained\n\nKeep vehicles clean and complete daily safety inspections\n\nUse plant and machinery safely in line with manufacturer guidance\n\nFollow health and safety legislation, policies and procedures\n\nWork as part of a team or independently where required\n\nSupport wider street services activity when needed\n\nAssist with emergency responses such as flooding, snow, storms or town centre clearance when instructed\n\nUndertake relevant training required for the role\n\nEssential Experience & Skills\nFull clean driving licence\n\nRelated experience in a similar grounds, parks, landscaping, environmental or manual outdoor role\n\nExperience working as part of a team\n\nAbility to work without close supervision\n\nSelf-motivated and reliable\n\nGood understanding of health and safety issues\n\nAbility to follow council policies and procedures\n\nGood communication skills\n\nPride in delivering a quality service\n\nWillingness to undertake relevant training\n\nFlexible and able to work outside core hours when required\n\nAble to cover bank holidays when required\n\nComfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions\n\nAble to use grounds maintenance tools, equipment or machinery safely\n\nDesirable\nWelsh language skills\n\nExperience using ride-on mowers\n\nExperience using strimmers, blowers, hedge cutters or similar grounds equipment\n\nPrevious local authority grounds maintenance or street services experience\n\nHGV licence, if applicable\n\nExperience with litter picking, fly-tipping response or waste support duties\n\nAdditional Information\nThis role does not require a DBS check.\nThe interview will be a telephone conversation to understand the candidate's
