The job description confirms this role is responsible for NEC system administration, payment allocation, BACS income collection files, software testing, system integrity, Benefits reporting and data management for a caseload of around 3,000 residents and families.\nImportant - Please Read Carefully\nThis role requires Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support assessment experience.\nYou must be confident working with benefits systems, confidential customer data, deadlines, financial reconciliations, system administration, reports and technical processes.\nExperience of software testing or IT system administration is desirable, but direct Housing Benefit / Council Tax Support knowledge is essential.\nCandidates without relevant Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support, benefits systems or revenues and benefits experience are unlikely to be considered.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaintain and monitor the NEC Benefits software system\n\nProvide technical systems support to the Benefits Service\n\nSupport operational systems administration for Benefits applications\n\nEnsure payment allocation and Benefits processes are run on time\n\nProduce Direct Debit and BACS income collection files\n\nMaintain system integrity through regular housekeeping routines\n\nTest and implement software releases and new functionality\n\nDocument procedures following system or legislative changes\n\nSupport service improvement and business transformation projects\n\nKeep up to date with Housing Benefit, Universal Credit and Council Tax Support changes\n\nSupport Department for Work and Pensions and Government returns\n\nPrepare and distribute Housing Benefit payment timetables\n\nCreate and run bespoke reports using First Query / Business Objects\n\nSet up and delete NEC system users\n\nReview user permissions quarterly in line with audit requirements\n\nLog software issues and faults with suppliers and monitor progress\n\nDevelop and support UAT procedures\n\nLiaise with Digital Services, Finance, Revenues, Housing and system users\n\nReconcile Housing Benefit payments to Housing and Finance systems\n\nMonitor Housing Benefit overpayments, Sundry debts and PDP debts\n\nDownload and import DWP and HMRC reports into the Benefits system\n\nSupport annual billing and uprating exercises\n\nInvestigate and correct daily exception errors and reports\n\nProvide data for Subject Access Requests and FOI requests\n\nSupport internal and external auditors with reports, access and data\n\nMaintain performance, expenditure, caseload and statistical reports\n\nEssential Experience & Skills\nExperience of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support assessment\n\nExperience working to deadlines and achieving targets\n\nKnowledge of Windows-based office packages\n\nGood numeracy, accounting and literacy skills\n\nUnderstanding of GDPR and confidential data handling\n\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills\n\nAbility to learn, understand and apply complex legislation\n\nAbility to review processes and develop streamlined procedures\n\nGood verbal and written communication skills\n\nGood numerical reasoning\n\nAbility to work under
