The successful candidate will carry out safety inspections, maintenance inspections, scheduled and non-scheduled repairs, electrical/electronic repairs, hydraulic and pneumatic system repairs, MOT/DVSA preparation and accurate recording of maintenance documentation.\nThe role requires experience working with fleet vehicles, plant or specialist equipment, with a strong understanding of statutory requirements, O Licence conditions, workshop safety and vehicle maintenance standards.\nImportant - Please Read Carefully\nThis role requires direct experience in vehicle engineering, fleet maintenance, commercial vehicle repair, plant repair or workshop-based vehicle maintenance.\nYou must hold a driving licence and be confident carrying out safety inspections, repairs and maintenance on vehicles, plant or specialist equipment.\nCandidates without relevant vehicle/fleet/plant maintenance experience are unlikely to be considered.\nKey Responsibilities\nCarry out safety and maintenance inspections on vehicles, plant and specialist equipment\n\nEnsure work complies with statutory requirements, operator licence conditions and manufacturer recommendations\n\nComplete scheduled and non-scheduled electrical and electronic repairs\n\nUndertake hydraulic system repairs\n\nUndertake pneumatic system repairs\n\nPrepare or assist in preparing vehicles for annual MOT / DVSA tests\n\nSteam clean or pressure wash vehicles and plant for inspection, service or repair where required\n\nUse electronic fleet management systems\n\nComplete welding tasks where qualified\n\nOperate forklift truck where qualified or work towards qualification\n\nComplete job records, inspection reports and maintenance records accurately and on time\n\nEnsure documentation supports DVSA regulations and O Licence obligations\n\nSupport recharge processes for third-party work where required\n\nSupport training and development of apprentices where directed\n\nUndertake relevant training as required\n\nInvestigate and resolve complex vehicle breakdown faults where required\n\nUndertake driving duties for a range of vehicles, including HGV where required and qualified\n\nWork collaboratively with colleagues, managers, drivers, plant operatives, suppliers and contractors\n\nEssential Experience & Skills\nExperience in vehicle maintenance, fleet engineering, vehicle repair or plant repair\n\nExperience carrying out safety and maintenance inspections\n\nExperience repairing commercial vehicles, council fleet vehicles, plant or specialist equipment\n\nKnowledge of statutory vehicle maintenance requirements and O Licence compliance\n\nExperience with electrical/electronic vehicle repairs\n\nExperience with hydraulic and/or pneumatic systems\n\nAbility to support MOT / DVSA test preparation\n\nAbility to complete accurate inspection, service and repair records\n\nAbility to use or learn electronic fleet management systems\n\nStrong understanding of workshop health and safety\n\nFlexible approach to different types of vehicle and plant repair\n\nAbility to work as part of a workshop team\n\nGood communication and record-keeping skills\n\nValid driving licence\n\nDesirable\nWelding qualification or experience\n\nForklift Truck Operator qualification, or ability to achieve this\n\nDVSA MOT testing approval\n\nExperience with Private Hire and Hackney inspections\n\nHGV licence\n\nExperience diagnosing electric vehicles or advanced diagnostic systems\n\nExperience training or supporting
