You’ll move comfortably between company priorities, technical decisions, team leadership and delivery detail, bringing clarity where it’s needed and helping the team keep momentum.\nA key part of the role is shaping how our technology develops. You’ll set direction, make the bigger technical calls and put the right frameworks and standards in place so engineers can build well, make good decisions and move quickly.\nYou’ll stay close to the technology, with the depth to review architecture and code, challenge thinking and contribute directly when that adds value. Your impact will come from helping the whole team perform at its best.\nProduct management will also sit within your remit. You’ll bring Product and Engineering together around clear priorities, strong problem definition and a practical path from idea through to delivery and measurement.\nWhat we’re looking for\nYou’ll have a strong software engineering background and established experience leading technology at a senior level, with responsibility that goes beyond Engineering alone.\nYou’ll be used to owning the bigger picture across technical direction, delivery, product, team capability and the decisions that shape how technology supports the wider business.\nYou’ll probably have spent a meaningful part of your career in start-ups, scale-ups or smaller technology businesses, where senior leaders stay close to the work and operate across a broad remit.\nWe’re looking for someone with:\nSenior technology leadership experience in smaller, growing businesses\n\nStrong technical judgement across software architecture, cloud platforms, APIs and integrations\n\nExperience owning engineering delivery end to end\n\nEnough coding depth to stay close to the technology and contribute when useful\n\nStrong product judgement and experience working closely with, or overseeing, product management\n\nExperience creating frameworks, standards and clear technical ownership that help engineers build well\n\nGood judgement when balancing speed, commercial value, platform health, technical debt and risk\n\nA track record of developing engineers and raising capability in a small team\n\nThe confidence to challenge constructively, listen well and make clear decisions when priorities compete\n\nClear communication with both technical and non-technical teams\n\nExperience in SaaS, fintech, insurtech, proptech or another technology-enabled service business would be useful, but isn’t essential.\nOur tech\nOur core application is built in Python/Django and Postgres, with Vue.js on the frontend. We run on AWS, ship continuously through CircleCI and use Datadog and Sentry for monitoring and issue diagnosis.\nComparable experience matters more than matching every part of our stack.
