Along with the supervisor, the lead person is responsible for the correctness of the product made.\nForwards vacation or time-off requests to the supervisor for approval.\nMay work or assist in all areas of production, including quality, assembly, and test.\nHas complete knowledge of the business unit product line.\nAs requested, oversees the quality and workmanship of fellow team members.\nMay perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.\nEssential Job Functions:\nCoordinates workflow in production under the direction of the supervisor or Plant Manager.\nChecks the correctness of the product made throughout the process.\nNotify the Quality Department, supervisor, or Plant Manager of any parts or production problems.\nEffectively communicates with the team and supervisor to maintain a positive work environment.\nTrains employees as needed.\nInitiates steps for maintenance of machines or equipment and follows through until resolution.\nAddresses (or escalates) performance issues with team members as needed.\nWorks in partnership with the Plant Manager to align resources to meet production needs.\nRequired Knowledge/Skills/Education/Experience:\nTypically, 5 years’ experience in wind, power transmission, or heavy equipment assembly, test, and paint.\n5 years of lead knowledge and experience.\nLeadership abilities and self-motivation with a results-driven approach.\nCoaching and communication skills.\nBasic understanding of management techniques to direct and lead a team.\nKnowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures.\nKnowledge of the metric system.\n5 years of blueprint reading experience or a GD&T certificate.\nGood level of oral and written communication skills.\nKnowledge of basic technology in the area where assigned.\nBasic skills in Word and Excel.\nGood level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization, motivate employees, and elicit work output.\nKnowledge of quality control procedures.\nAbility to work in a team environment.\nKnowledge of scheduling and other management systems.\nMS Office knowledge is a must; SAP knowledge is an advantage.\nMust be able to stand and walk (90% of the day) and occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds.\nEducation and Training\nA combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by an experienced high school graduate.
