Fletcher Building is a New Zealand building materials and construction group headquartered in Penrose, Auckland that manufactures and distributes building products, builds homes and delivers major construction and infrastructure projects. Its roots go back to 1909, when James Fletcher built his first house in Dunedin, and today it is dual listed on the NZX and ASX, employs more than 9,000 people in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific and owns businesses such as Stramit, Laminex, PlaceMakers and Fletcher Living. It hires customer service staff, storepersons and drivers, diesel mechanics, production operators and branch managers, plus site, project and quality engineers.

At Comfortech Building Performance Solutions, home of iconic brands including Pink®Batts®, we're looking for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead our Penrose manufacturing operation. Reporting to the General Manager, you'll take responsibility for the safe, efficient and reliable performance of the site, leading a team of approximately 50 employees and 9 direct reports across Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Logistics.

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing operation with an engaged workforce, a capable leadership team and strong foundations already in place. Rather than driving a turnaround, your focus will be on sustaining performance, developing capability, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring the business continues to deliver for its customers.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading all aspects of the Pink®Batts® manufacturing operation.
  • Driving a strong safety culture and leading Health, Safety & Environment performance across the site.
  • Delivering production, quality, service and cost targets.
  • Leading and developing an experienced team across manufacturing, engineering, maintenance and logistics.
  • Managing site budgets, plant performance, asset reliability and operational risk.
  • Building strong relationships with union representatives, suppliers and key business stakeholders.
  • Contributing as a key member of the senior leadership team and helping shape operational strategy.

What we're looking for

You are an experienced manufacturing leader who knows how to achieve results through people.

You'll bring:

  • Proven experience leading manufacturing, industrial, engineering or operational teams.
  • A visible commitment to health and safety.
  • Strong people leadership skills and the ability to coach, develop and empower others.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary functions including production, maintenance, engineering and logistics.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience managing operational performance.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • The confidence to engage with and constructively challenge senior leaders when required.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and a passion for operational excellence.

Why join us?

Lead the manufacturing operation behind one of New Zealand’s most iconic building products, join a business with a highly engaged workforce and strong site culture, and become part of a respected New Zealand manufacturer backed by the strength of the Fletcher Building Group. You’ll also receive a competitive remuneration package and genuine opportunities for career growth and development.

If you're a collaborative manufacturing leader who enjoys building capability, maintaining high standards and creating an environment where teams can succeed, we'd love to hear from you.
