This role focuses on troubleshooting automation hardware and software, performing preventive maintenance and supporting production, and assisting with automation upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.\nLocation: Buffalo Grove, IL\nShift Schedule: 6pm-6am (Rotating Shift)\nKey Responsibilities\nProduction & Support\nMaintain and troubleshoot automated production equipment, including robots, conveyors, vision systems, and automated assembly/test stations.\nRespond quickly to equipment downtime to diagnose root cause and restore production.\nSupport daily production operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.\nVerify proper operation of safety interlocks, light curtains, E-Stops, and guarding.\nPerform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation equipment.\nIdentify recurring issues and recommend permanent corrective actions.\nRetrieve spare parts and assist with equipment documentation.\nSupport automation upgrades, retrofits, and new equipment installations.\nAssist engineering with process improvements, cycle-time reduction, and yield improvement projects.\nParticipate in root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action activities.\nDocument repairs, changes, and maintenance activities.\nAssist in creating work instructions, maintenance procedures, and equipment manuals.\nSupport training of operators and maintenance personnel on automated systems.\nStrong mechanical and electrical aptitude\nAbility to work independently under production pressure\nGood communication and documentation skills\nTeam-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset\nComfortable working with both engineering and production teams\nLeads a team of automation technicians on their shift\nRequired Qualifications\nAssociate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Technology.\n5+ years of experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment (production environment).\nHands-on experience with:Sensors, pneumatics, motors, drives, and servo systems\nIndustrial HMIs and automation hardware\n\nAbility to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams.\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, Yaskawa, or similar).\nExposure to vision systems and automated inspection.\nExperience in electronics, SMT, medical device, automotive, or high-volume manufacturing.\nKnowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.\nBasic understanding of industrial networking (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, etc.).\nAW20\nWhat you'll receive for the great work you provide:\nFull range of medical, dental, and vision plans\nLife Insurance\nShort-term and Long-term Disability\nMatching 401(k) Contributions\nVacation and Paid Sick Time\nTuition Reimbursement\n\nApplication Deadline:\nApplications for this job position will be accepted for at least five days following the job posting start date below and continuing until the end date below or until the position is filled.
