If you want to learn fast, work with unusually strong scientists and engineers, tackle problems at the frontier of computation, and see your work matter in industry, Flexcompute offers a rare environment in which to grow and do your best work.\nAbout Flexcompute\nFlexcompute is the physics company. We exist to make the real world computable. Created by engineers from MIT and Stanford, we build trusted, GPU-native physics simulation and AI-powered engineering technology for teams designing aircraft, vehicles, chips, and photonic systems. Our technology is trusted by more than 250 companies and academic institutions, including innovators such as Anduril, BETA Technologies, Coherent, Hermeus, Joby Aviation, Northrop Grumman, Samsung, and Xanadu.\nOur products span fluid dynamics, electromagnetics, photonics, geometry, and multiphysics workflows. We work at the frontier of physical modelling, numerical algorithms, GPU computing, high-performance computing, AI, and engineering automation. The goal is not speed at the expense of physics. It is to make previously impractical, high-fidelity engineering work fast enough to shape real design decisions.\nAbout the role\nYou will join the Flexcompute team in Poland and work at the intersection of physics, engineering, simulation, and technology. The centre of gravity is not writing software for its own sake. It is understanding physical systems and helping turn that understanding into reliable engineering results and better simulation products.\nThis is not a narrowly defined solver-developer position. Depending on your strengths, you may work closer to customers and applications, simulation validation, product workflows, scientific computing, or a combination of these. Contributions to numerical algorithms or solver development are welcome, but they are not required.\nWhat you will do\nUnderstand challenging industrial and research problems, identify the relevant physics, and formulate an appropriate simulation strategy.\nBuild, run, validate, and interpret simulations in one or more physical domains.\nInvestigate unexpected results, convergence behaviour, modelling assumptions, boundary conditions, mesh sensitivity, and discrepancies with experiments or reference data.\nCreate clear and reusable Python workflows, examples, benchmarks, and technical demonstrations.\nCollaborate with customers, application engineers, product teams, and solver developers. Translate user needs and physical insight into actionable product feedback.\nCommunicate complex engineering ideas clearly through discussions, written explanations, presentations, and technical content.\nTake ownership of difficult, ambiguous problems and drive them toward a trustworthy result.\nTwo profiles can be equally successful\nApplication-oriented profile. You have deep physical or engineering understanding, practical simulation experience, strong communication skills, and enough programming ability to automate workflows and investigate problems rigorously.\nScientific-computing profile. You are stronger in numerical methods and technical computing and may contribute more deeply to algorithms, performance, geometry, optimization, or simulation infrastructure.\nWe do not expect one person to cover both profiles equally. Exceptional strength in physics and applications can compensate for less advanced computing experience.\nWorking with the Poland team\nThis role is attached to Flexcompute's Poland office in Katowice. We value regular in-person collaboration, but permanent daily office presence is not required. The working cadence can be agreed based on the role and location. Candidates should be able to spend meaningful time with the Poland team when needed.\nRequirements\nWho you are\nYou have completed, or are close to completing, an MSc or PhD in physics, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computational science, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related technical field.\nYou have strong foundations in physics, mathematics, or engineering, can reason from first principles, and have hands-on experience with numerical simulation or quantitative modelling.\nYou can write practical scripts, preferably in Python, to automate work, analyse data, and test ideas.\nYou are motivated by real engineering problems, product impact, and industrial applications.\nYou communicate clearly, learn quickly, and demonstrate unusual ownership, persistence, and intellectual curiosity.\nWhat can demonstrate exceptional ability\nWe care about evidence of ability and genuine technical interest, not one prescribed career path. Strong signals may include:\nStudent engineering teams and competitions: active participation in teams such as SAE Aero Design, Formula Student, rocketry, UAV, robotics, satellite, or other engineering projects.\nOlympiads and technical competitions: national or international physics, mathematics, informatics, astronomy, or engineering competitions.\nRelevant internships or industry experience: placements in aerospace, automotive, energy, advanced manufacturing, research institutes, or industrial R&D.\nApplied research: work that connects modelling with experiments, measurements, design decisions, or a real physical system.\nPersonal or open technical work: open-source contributions, simulation tools, automation, technical software, or a demanding project built independently.\nParticipation alone is not the goal. We are most interested in what you personally designed, simulated, built, tested, debugged, or improved.\nExperience that would be useful\nAny of the following would be valuable, but none is required across the board:\nCFD, fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, heat transfer, structural mechanics, electromagnetics, photonics, quantum physics, or adjacent fields.\nApplication engineering, technical consulting, customer collaboration, commercial simulation software, or ownership of simulation-driven engineering decisions.\nNumerical methods for PDEs, linear algebra, optimization, inverse design, computational geometry, or uncertainty analysis.\nC++, Rust, GPU computing, CUDA, MPI, OpenMP, distributed computing, or performance optimization.\nAI or machine learning applied to engineering, simulation, scientific workflows, or technical data.\nHow you will be successful\nYour simulation work is physically sound, reproducible, and useful for an engineering decision.\nYou can distinguish a modelling issue, a numerical issue, a workflow issue, and a product issue, and involve the right people.\nYou make difficult technical topics clearer for customers and colleagues and improve the workflow around each case.\nYou develop deeper expertise while remaining curious across disciplines.\nHow to apply\nPlease send us your CV and a short note describing one difficult technical problem or engineering project you worked on. Tell us what you personally contributed, what made it difficult, and how you knew your result was correct or useful.\nWe welcome applications from people who do not match every item above. If you have exceptional evidence of technical ability and a strong interest in physics simulation, we would like to hear from you.\nBenefits\nWhy Flexcompute is an exceptional place to build your career\nLearn from an unusually strong technical team. Flexcompute brings together distinguished technologists, experienced industry practitioners, and computational scientists trained at leading institutions around the world. The team includes pioneers and internationally recognized experts in turbulence modelling, computational mathematics, electromagnetics, photonics, aerospace, and scientific computing.\nWork on problems at the edge of what is computationally practical. We tackle simulations that stretch conventional approaches in scale, fidelity, speed, and automation, then turn research-level ideas into reliable products.\nSee physics create real industrial impact. Your work can influence how leading aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, photonics, energy, and advanced-technology companies design and validate new hardware.\nCombine scientific depth with the pace of a technology company. You do not have to choose between rigorous physics and practical relevance. You can investigate difficult questions, build tools, work with users, and see the result deployed.\nTake meaningful ownership from the beginning. Strong ideas and sound technical judgement matter more than seniority. You will be expected to learn quickly, contribute directly, and grow toward the part of physics, applications, or scientific computing where you can become exceptional.\nShare in the company you help build. We offer competitive compensation and meaningful equity, subject to local employment terms.\nFlexcompute is an equal opportunity employer. We value different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives, and we encourage qualified candidates from all backgrounds to apply.","description_format":"text","description_chars":9200,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Simulation & Digital Twin Software","High-Performance Computing"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-03T00:04:57Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":19,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.424,"p_room":0.45,"age_days":53,"expected_fill_days":27,"reasons":["conf:3","velocity","win:tail"],"computed_at":"2026-10-23T05:54:15Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/flexcompute-physics-simulation-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/flexcompute-physics-simulation-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-23T19:59:32Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1316,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-24T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":7971},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=7971"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fflexcompute-physics-simulation-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fflexcompute-physics-simulation-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fflexcompute-physics-simulation-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/flexcompute-physics-simulation-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fflexcompute-physics-simulation-engineer"}]}
