The position is instrumental in advancing high-quality medical education that prepares future doctors for practice in rural, remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health contexts. Working collaboratively across key partnerships between the Northern Territory Government, Australian Government and Charles Darwin University, the role contributes to the development of a fit-for-context Northern Territory health and medical workforce.\nKey responsibilities include:\nProviding academic leadership in the design, delivery and continuous improvement of medical education across the Doctor of Medicine program, ensuring an exceptional student learning experience.\nLeading innovative teaching initiatives, including clinical skills training, simulation-based learning and work-integrated learning opportunities that prepare students for the unique challenges of rural and remote healthcare.\nBuilding and maintaining strong partnerships with health services, government agencies, community stakeholders and educational institutions to support workforce development across the Northern Territory.\nDriving curriculum development and educational best practice, with a focus on rural, remote and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, while contributing to professional accreditation, quality assurance and strategic priorities.\nThis position makes a significant contribution to the University's strategic plan to change 10 million lives, Every One Matters, by 2035 through directly contributing to our Student Centric strategic driver, delivering exceptional medical education and preparing future doctors to meet the healthcare needs of rural, remote and Northern Territory communities.\nAbout You\nYou are a passionate and experienced medical educator with a strong clinical background and a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. A collaborative leader, you thrive on building meaningful partnerships, driving curriculum innovation and contributing to a high-performing academic environment focused on improving health outcomes across the Northern Territory.\nTo be successful in this position, you will have:\nCurrent registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), supported by extensive contemporary clinical experience in acute and/or primary healthcare settings.\nA demonstrated track record of excellence in tertiary teaching, including the design, delivery and evaluation of innovative learning experiences across classroom, clinical and simulation-based environments.\nWell-developed knowledge of contemporary medical education practices, with experience in curriculum development and a commitment to enhancing student learning outcomes.\nExceptional communication, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across the education, healthcare and community sectors.\nFlinders Rural and Remote Health NT\nAt Flinders Rural and Remote Health NT, our aim is to be a hub for innovative health research, education, and workforce development across the Northern Territory. We engage with students, community, and stakeholders to provide critical programs, such as the Northern Territory Medical Program, Paramedicine, Rural Clinical School, and the University Department of Rural Health.\nOur postgraduate education pathways (Remote Health Practice program), provides workforce development through Indigenous health and clinical skills training, and we have a community driven research program led by researchers committed to improving health outcomes. We work alongside Poche SA+NT focussing on Indigenous leadership capacity development and developing the Indigenous health workforce.
