Working within a Microsoft-based environment built on Nutanix Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) and Citrix virtualisation, the role provides senior-level technical expertise, project delivery, and third-line support to the firm’s 400+ users.\n\nReporting to the IT Infrastructure & Security Manager, this is a hands-on role requiring deep technical knowledge, strong troubleshooting skills, and a proactive approach to maintaining a secure, resilient, and scalable infrastructure that underpins the firm’s business operations.\n\nWorking hours: Monday to Friday full time. In addition to usual hours of work, you will be on call, and you must be flexible to work additional hours on evenings and weekends will be required for emergency cover and systems maintenance.\n\nOffice Location: Derby head office with remote and onsite support as required at our other offices\nKey Responsibilities\n Infrastructure Design, Maintenance & Support\nManage, maintain, and optimise the firm’s Nutanix HCI environment, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability.\nAdminister and support Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops infrastructure, including provisioning, user experience optimisation, and troubleshooting.\nSupport and maintain the firm’s Microsoft stack, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, and Azure services.\nManage core networking infrastructure including switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems.\nProvide advanced (3rd-line) technical support and act as an escalation point for the IT Service Desk and Infrastructure teams.\nEnsure system monitoring, alerting, and performance reporting are in place and effective.\nProject Delivery\nLead and deliver infrastructure projects from design to implementation, ensuring minimal disruption to the business.\nContribute to the planning and execution of technology refreshes, upgrades, and migrations.\nEvaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance performance, security, and resilience.\nProduce and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, and operating procedures.\nSecurity, Resilience & Compliance\nMaintain robust backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions, ensuring regular testing and documentation.\nWork to ensure systems comply with ISO 27001 and firm-wide information security policies.\nManage patching, firmware updates, and configuration management to maintain security and stability.\nParticipate in regular system and security audits.\nCollaboration & Leadership\nWork closely with the IT Infrastructure, IT Service Desk and Systems Development teams to ensure cohesive service delivery.\nMentor infrastructure engineers and provide technical guidance to the wider IT team.\nContribute to capacity planning, budgeting, and procurement discussions.\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\n Essential\nSignificant experience in a senior infrastructure engineering or 3rd-line role, ideally within a professional services or legal environment.\nStrong hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV and Prism management.\nExpertise in Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (or similar VDI environments).\nIn-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365, and Azure.\nStrong understanding of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, routing, switching, and firewalls.\nProven experience supporting high-availability environments with strong uptime requirements.\nExcellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.\nExperience with ITIL-based support practices and change management processes.\nExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\nStrong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.\n Desirable\nExposure to or certification in Nutanix (NCP/NCM), Citrix (CCA/CCP), or Microsoft (MCSA/MCSE/Azure).\nExperience with scripting or automation tools (e.g. PowerShell).\nKnowledge of backup and recovery platforms (e.g. Veeam, Rubrik).\nFamiliarity with endpoint management tools (e.g. Intune, SCCM).\nExperience with enterprise security solutions and best
