This role is ideal for a seasoned HR professional with a strong background in a complex, high-volume, unionized transportation or bus line environment. The HR Generalist will serve as a strategic partner and day-to-day resource for employees and management, administering a broad range of HR functions including employee relations, labor relations, compliance, and people operations. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of working in an intercity passenger transportation setting and is comfortable navigating the nuances of a represented workforce. \nAbout the Role\n Employee Relations (ER) - Serves as the primary point of contact and driver for employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, manager enablement and coaching, etc. \nCompliance - Ensures organizational compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws \nCompensation Management - Support the administration of the company’s compensation programs, including job evaluations, salary benchmarking, job descriptions and classifications, annual merit review process, union pay scales, etc. \nPerformance Management - Administer end-to-end performance management cycles, including goal-setting, mid-year check-ins and annual evaluations, progressive disciplinary processes, etc. \nLeave Administration - Manage and serve as point of contact for all employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term and long-term disability, personal leave, etc. \nUnemployment Compensation - Manage unemployment insurance claims and timely state agency responses \nPeople Operations - Maintain accuracy and integrity of employee data in the HRIS, including employment changes, promotions, status changes, etc. \n Onboarding - Manage pre-employment activities and full onboarding experience, including background checks, I9 verifications, new hire orientations, etc. \nAbout You \nBachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience \nMinimum 5+ years of progressive HR Generalist experience, with demonstrated proficiency across the functional areas listed above \nDirect experience working within a unionized workforce; strong working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements, grievance procedures, and labor law \nProficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite \nDemonstrable experience identifying opportunities for improving HR processes, systems, and overall employee experience \nPrior experience in intercity bus transportation, passenger rail, transit authority, or comparable high-volume, multi-location transportation operations \nExperience supporting DOT-regulated employees and familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) requirements \nThis position requires full-time, M-F in-office presence in either Chicago, IL, or Atlanta, GA, as well as availability to travel to operational locations as needed \nPreferred Experience\nPHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification \nExperience supporting multiple sites or geographically dispersed employee populations \nSalary Range: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 USD\nWe recognize that everyone carries a unique set of valuable skills and experiences.
