While this role does not directly interact with students, its on-site presence is essential to supporting the university’s operations and advancing student learning across the institution.\nJob Description\nTypical duties include but are not limited to:\nLeads the design, installation, operation, support, upgrades, and maintenance of infrastructure, including software, servers, and storage in a Linux and Windows server environment.\nAdministers, maintains, and supports complex and critical infrastructure using automation such as Ansible / Red Hat Satellite.\nAdministers application security and configurations.\nCoordinates application testing with functional areas.\nAnalyzes infrastructure performance and resolves problems or makes appropriate recommendations.\nLeads troubleshooting of application, operating system server hardware, network communications and storage problems within infrastructure.\nEnsures data/media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations.\nConducts routine infrastructure and security audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.\nMonitors and maintains continuity with system licensing and maintenance agreements.\nServes as an escalation point for Systems Engineers.\nTracks problems in the work order system.\nMaintains records, forms, and standard operating procedures documentation.\nDevelops new techniques and procedures to enhance university systems infrastructure.\nReviews processes, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices.\nOther duties:\nPerforms other job-related duties as assigned.\nAdditional Job Description\nRequired Qualifications:\nThis position requires either nine years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science or related field and five years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.\nProfessional full-time experience with Linux based enterprise systems and applications.\nExperience with large enterprise computing environments that include multiple site locations.\nAny appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nFive years professional full-time experience with application system support and implementation in a medium to large computing environment.\nProfessional full-time experience with enterprise systems and applications and current versions of Windows Server/Linux or other enterprise services.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nProven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity.\nDemonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable.\nStrong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams.\nKnowledge of networking concepts (e.g. Systems, Protocols, Directory Services).\nKnowledge and proficiency with relevant business systems, operating systems, and servers.\nKnowledge of and ability to administer local and cloud based applications (SaaS) such as Azure/AWS or Office 365.\nSkill in shell scripting/PowerShell/Bash scripting, project management of large initiatives, and troubleshooting.\nSkill in managing servers and storage hardware.\nSkill in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.\nExcellent interpersonal skills.\nAdvanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively to small and large groups.\nAbility to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and competing demands are involved.\nAbility to collaborate and work effectively within the community and willingness to contribute to a team effort.\nAbility to work independently and follow through on assignments.\nAbility to provide professional customer service.\nInstitutional Values & Behavioral Expectation\nIn this role, the successful candidate will be expected to:\nSeek out new approaches to improve outcomes; remain open for feedback and new ideas.\nLead with integrity; consistently produce high-quality work; persevere to overcome obstacles to meet deadlines and achieve deliverables.\nShare information and insights thoughtfully; build partnerships across departments; communicate respectfully; support colleagues to achieve common goals.\nPay Grade 19\nFGCU is a State University System of Florida member and an Equal Opportunity and Equal Access employer.
