The person in this role will design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient backend systems that handle game logic, player data, and integration with various services. This role is located in our Seattle office and requires two days in office (Mondays and Wednesdays).\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop and maintain server-side applications using Java, Spring Boot and related technologies\nDevelop, optimize and maintain database solutions\nDevelop and maintain APIs for communication between frontend and backend systems\nEnsure high performance, responsiveness and scalability of backend systems\nCollaborate with frontend developers and other teams to integrate backend services\nParticipate in peer code reviews and contribute to the improvement of development practices\nTroubleshoot and resolve backend-related issues and performance bottlenecks\nStay current with backend technologies and industry best practices\nContribute to technical documentation and specifications\nPerformance Expectations\nDeliver high-quality, efficient and well-documented software artifacts that meets project requirements\nEnsure the reliability and performance of backend systems under high-load conditions\nContribute to the continuous improvement of backend architecture and development processes\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate backend services\nMeet project deadlines and communicate progress clearly\nRequired Skills and Competencies:\nTechnical skills\nProficiency in Java programming and related frameworks\nStrong experience with MySQL and database optimization techniques\nFamiliarity with cloud services and infrastructure (AWS or GCP)\nUnderstanding of RESTful API design and implementation\nKnowledge of backend security best practices\nSoft skills\nExcellent problem-solving and logical thinking abilities\nStrong attention to detail\nEffective communication skills, both written and verbal\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nAdaptability to changing project requirements and technologies\nAdditional skills (preferred but not required):\nExperience with Spring Boot framework\nFamiliarity with other relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle)\nKnowledge of NoSQL databases\nUnderstanding of microservices architecture\nExperience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)\nOther Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field\nMinimum of 5 years of backend development experience with Java\nExperience with version control systems such as Apache SVN and Git, and agile development methodologies\nUnderstanding of scalability challenges in high-traffic applications\nPassion for creating robust and efficient backend solutions for gaming or similar interactive platforms\nWhat We Offer\nAt FlowPlay, we pride ourselves on being a company that we all love working for.
