Summary\nThe Senior Controls Engineer will play a key role in the delivery and execution of Greenray’s control system retrofit and upgrade projects.\nThis position provides specialist engineering and implement the company values within their roles.\nPeople\nTeamwork & Communication:\nReview customer tender invitations and provide input to Greenray’s tender submissions and technical clarifications.\nWork collaboratively across Engineering, Projects, Field Service, and Aftersales teams to deliver integrated control system solutions.\nProvide technical leadership and support for detailed control system design, PLC programming, and hardware manufacture.\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.\nSupport the development and mentoring of other engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence.\nContribute to Greenray’s business development activities through technical support to the Sales team and participation in customer visits.\nRepresent the Controls Engineering function in meetings, reviews, and supplier evaluations, demonstrating professionalism and clear communication.\nSafety & Sustainability:\nEnsure that all control system activities comply with relevant engineering, safety, and environmental standards.\nSupport safe systems of work during testing, installation, and commissioning, promoting Greenray’s QHSE values.\nParticipate in risk assessments and implement mitigations for technical and operational hazards.\nEncourage sustainable design practices that improve system reliability and reduce lifecycle environmental impact.\nConduct or support supplier and site visits to ensure safe and compliant working practices.\nAccountability:\nTake ownership of allocated control system projects, ensuring delivery to time, cost, and quality requirements.\nCompile functional, software, hardware, networking, and interface design specifications.\nDefine FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) procedures with internal and external suppliers, providing technical assistance and witnessing as required.\nSupport installation and commissioning activities, including occasional site visits to resolve technical issues.\nProvide office-based customer support for post-sales issues and controls-related troubleshooting.\nReview equipment and software suppliers to assess technical capability and suitability.\nEnsure that project documentation, drawings, and software are delivered accurately and in accordance with company standards.\nProvide technical input for pricing, project claims, and control system product development.\nQuality & Reliability:\nEnsure all control system designs meet engineering and quality standards.\nReview supplier quality documentation and FAT/SAT results to confirm compliance.\nSupport Engineering and Quality teams in resolving non-conformances and implementing corrective and preventive actions.\nContribute to continuous improvement by developing Greenray’s controls philosophy and technical design standards.\nMaintain an up-to-date knowledge base of PLC technologies and modern control system architectures relevant to gas turbines.\nPromote a right-first-time approach to design, testing, and commissioning.\nExcellence in Delivery:\nDeliver engineered control system solutions that achieve high performance and reliability.\nSupport the full lifecycle of control system projects, from concept to commissioning and through-life support.\nProvide timely and professional responses to customer queries and post-sales support requests.\nEnsure documentation and project deliverables are accurate, complete, and submitted on schedule.\nConduct or support customer training sessions for control system operation and maintenance.\nDrive a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence within the Controls Engineering discipline.\nRequired Skills\nEducation (qualifications & training)\nDegree-level education in Electrical, Electronic, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent experience).\nMinimum 5 years’ experience with PLC-based control systems, preferably across multiple platforms.\nProven experience with gas turbine control and fuel systems (essential).\nCommissioning and site installation experience essential.\nOffshore Safety Survival Certificate desirable (training will be provided if required).\nSkills (capabilities & qualities)\nStrong engineering focus with a track record of innovation and project delivery.\nTechnically confident with the ability to work independently and make sound engineering judgements.\nExcellent communication and customer relationship skills at all levels.\nCommercially aware, understanding both engineering and financial aspects of project delivery.\nHighly organised, detail-oriented, and quality-focused.\nLogical thinker with a proactive, “completer-finisher” approach.\nFlexible and adaptable, capable of supporting both office-based and site activities.\nDemonstrates integrity, professionalism, and alignment with Greenray’s
