Products include wedge wire cylinders, flat panels, curved sieves, trommel screens, and centrifuge baskets. These products support material separation, dewatering, sizing, and filtration. Our processes combine specialized equipment, precision resistance welding, fabrication, and inspection to meet customer specifications and FLS quality standards.\nPosition Summary:\nFLS is seeking an experienced, mechanically inclined Machine Operator for second shift. The position primarily involves setting up, operating, and maintaining specialized wedge wire cylinder manufacturing equipment. The operator will work independently within the department, while other employees are present in the facility. Prior industrial machine operating experience is required; experience with wedge wire equipment is not. Hands-on training will be provided.\nYour Responsibilities:\nPrepare, set up, operate, and monitor specialized wedge wire cylinder manufacturing equipment, including adjustment of electronic machine operating parameters, in accordance with production orders and technical drawings.\nSelect and prepare required tooling and materials; make machine adjustments to achieve specified product dimensions and quality.\nPerform weld tests, monitor resistance welding performance, and inspect weld quality throughout production.\nUse tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and product specifications.\nIdentify and troubleshoot mechanical or process issues, perform routine equipment checks, and assist with basic preventive maintenance.\nManage assigned second-shift production activities independently and communicate progress, downtime, material shortages, and quality concerns to supervision.\nFollow established procedures for handling nonconforming product and escalate issues when required.\nOperate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.\nCoordinate with other employees as needed while maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area.\nFollow all FLS safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures and support continuous improvement efforts.\nAccurately log production time and job-related information using a company-provided tablet; maintain complete production and inspection records.\nUse basic computer skills to navigate electronic controls, review operating information, and enter production data.\nFollow required safety practices, including personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures when authorized, and prompt reporting of hazards.\nDocument product quality checks, identify nonconforming material, and communicate quality concerns.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce scrap and downtime, improve equipment efficiency, and support continuous improvement.\nExercise sound judgment when working independently, including stopping work when safety or product quality may be compromised and notifying supervision.\nWhat You Bring:\nPrevious experience operating industrial manufacturing machinery, including machine setups and adjustments.\nStrong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and practical problem-solving skills.\nAbility to interpret production orders, technical drawings, and specifications.\nAbility to use measuring tools, including tape measures and calipers.\nStrong attention to quality, safe work practices, and production requirements.\nDependability, effective communication, and the ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.\nWillingness to learn specialized equipment and manufacturing processes.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nWelding experience or familiarity with welding processes.\nIndustrial maintenance or mechanical repair experience.\nExperience operating forklifts or overhead cranes.\nExperience with PLC-controlled or semi-automated industrial manufacturing equipment, including machine setup, operating parameter adjustments, and troubleshooting.\nWhat We Offer:\nAn equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace\nA global network of supportive colleagues and growth opportunities\nWork-life balance so you can focus on professional and personal priorities\nCompetitive benefit package including health, disability, life, and voluntary insurance options\nTime to recharge through PTO, 10 annual holidays, and parental leave\nRetirement preparation with a 401(k) and company match\nAnd some extra help when you need it through our Employee Assistance Program\nFLSmidth is the leading supplier of engineering, equipment and service solutions to customers in the mining and minerals industries -
