Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Product Engineer to join our Flotation team on a full-time basis.\nJob responsibilities\nThe Mechanical Product Engineer is a key member of the Flotation product engineering team, responsible for designing, developing, and delivering mechanical solutions for flotation equipment. Working closely with the Chief Engineer and cross-functional teams, this role manages multiple projects to ensure design integrity, compliance with customer specifications and industry standards, and timely execution within scope and budget. Responsibilities include reviewing and approving designs, performing calculations, driving product improvements and innovation, and providing hands-on support for fabrication, installation, and troubleshooting, with occasional travel to support field activities.\nKey Responsibilities\nWork independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects in parallel.\n\nLead projects related to contracts, standardization, product improvement, and R&D initiatives.\n\nEnsure overall design integrity and adherence to customer specifications and industry standards.\n\nDeliver projects according to defined scope, schedule, and budget.\n\nCollaborate with other engineering disciplines (Process, Electrical, Automation, etc.) to meet project deliverables.\n\nAnalyze complex design challenges and develop innovative solutions.\n\nReview and approve engineering designs, including 3D models, detailed drawings, and mechanical calculations.\n\nWork with global resources to complete engineering deliverables efficiently.\n\nTravel to job sites and regional offices as needed for equipment troubleshooting, fabrication and manufacturing support, installation assistance, and sales support.\n\nSupport standardization, product improvement, and value engineering initiatives to optimize performance and cost.\n\nContribute to research and development projects to advance product innovation.\n\nContribute to the development of design standards, product specifications, and design control procedures.\n\nActively participate in a collaborative team environment to achieve project and organizational goals.\n\nWhat You Bring\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\n\nSuccessful completion of EIT Exam (Engineer in Training) or FE (Fundamentals of Engineering).\n\n3+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering.\n\nProven track record of managing engineering projects from concept to completion.\n\nTechnical Skills\nProficiency in mechanical engineering and machine design principles, calculations, and analysis.\n\nProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and 3D modeling.\n\nCompetency in CAE software (e.g., Ansys).\n\nProficiency in MS Office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\n\nGood understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.\n\nFamiliarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.\n\nBasic understanding of design requirements of other engineering disciplines: electrical, process, etc.\n\nLeadership & Soft Skills\nProficiency in project management and organizational skills.\n\nExcellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.\n\nEffective communication and collaboration skills.\n\nCommitment to safety and quality standards.\n\nPreferred\nSuccessful completion of PE Exam (or equivalent).\n\nExperience with value engineering and product development.\n\nKnowledge of sourcing strategies and cost optimization.\n\nWillingness to travel for site visits and client support.\n\nWhat we offer\nAs an equal opportunity employer, FLSmidth embraces diversity and equality by promoting an environment of inclusion.
