For more information, please visit fluenceenergy.com.\nJob Description:\nRole Overview\nThe Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting secure and reliable network infrastructure for utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Operational Technology (OT) environments.\nThis role focuses on network architecture, industrial networking, firewall configuration, network segmentation, and connectivity across Fluence Energy Storage products. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, cybersecurity, deployment, and product development teams to ensure network reliability, scalability, security, and compliance with industry standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, configure, and maintain network infrastructure supporting utility-scale BESS and OT environments.\nDevelop and implement network architectures involving routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, and industrial communication networks.\nConfigure and troubleshoot Cisco, Palo Alto, and other enterprise networking technologies.\nImplement network segmentation, firewall policies, access control lists (ACLs), and secure remote connectivity.\nSupport network integration between industrial controllers, SCADA systems, RTACs, gateways, and Fluence software platforms.\nTroubleshoot complex network issues involving routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, NTP, TCP/IP, and communication protocols.\nSupport industrial communication protocols, including Modbus TCP, OPC UA, MQTT, and BACnet.\nCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement network security controls aligned with IEC 62443 and OT cybersecurity best practices.\nDevelop and maintain network architecture diagrams, configuration standards, deployment procedures, and technical documentation.\nSupport network testing, validation, commissioning, and troubleshooting across development, laboratory, and customer environments.\nParticipate in network automation initiatives using Ansible, Python, or similar technologies.\nWork with cross-functional teams to identify network risks, improve reliability, and standardize network configurations across Fluence products.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.\n5-8+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, infrastructure, or industrial networking.\nStrong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, NAT, DNS, DHCP, and NTP.\nHands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches, routers, and Palo Alto firewalls.\nExperience with network segmentation, firewall policies, and secure remote access solutions.\nStrong troubleshooting skills using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, traceroute, and other network diagnostic utilities.\nWorking knowledge of Linux networking, particularly Ubuntu-based environments.\nExperience developing network diagrams, technical documentation, and configuration standards.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nAbility to collaborate effectively with geographically distributed engineering and product development teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience working in Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), energy storage, renewable energy, or power generation environments.\nKnowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus TCP, OPC UA, MQTT, and BACnet.\nFamiliarity with IEC 62443, NERC CIP, and industrial cybersecurity practices.\nExperience with network automation using Ansible, Python, or infrastructure-as-code tools.\nKnowledge of virtualization technologies, including VMware ESXi and virtual networking.\nExperience with network monitoring tools such as Zabbix, PRTG, or similar platforms.\nFamiliarity with high-availability network architectures, redundancy, and industrial network reliability.\nProfessional certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, PCNSE, or equivalent.\nKey Competencies\nNetwork Architecture and Design\nRouting, Switching, and Firewall Management\nOT/ICS Network Security\nIndustrial Communication Protocols\nLinux Networking and Troubleshooting\nNetwork Automation and Standardization\nCross-Functional Collaboration\nTechnical Documentation and Problem-Solving\nOur Culture\nAt Fluence, our culture is the foundation that drives our ambitious growth strategy and fuels our mission to transform the future of energy.
