If this sounds like a culture you would like to work in, you’re invited to apply for this role.\nJob Description\n**This position is contingent upon contract award**\nThe Design Engineer IV, Electrical (Power) will perform electrical engineering and design for industrial power-distribution systems, with emphasis on medium-voltage systems and equipment. Responsibilities include developing and reviewing power-system studies, calculations, specifications, single-line diagrams, equipment requirements, protection and control requirements, and vendor documentation.\nThe engineer will coordinate with clients, suppliers, contractors, and other engineering disciplines and may serve as an electrical Area Lead or Lead Engineer on assigned projects. Power-generation or electrical power-plant experience is highly desirable, while transmission and substation experience is beneficial.\nApply Cost Competitive Execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work\nDevelop and review electrical specifications, including design criteria\nParticipate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting\nPerform and check electrical calculations, specify equipment, and solve moderately complex engineering problems\nReview vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution\nAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines\nOther duties as assigned\nBasic Job Requirements\nAccredited four-year degree, or global equivalent, in electrical engineering\nEight or more years of relevant electrical engineering experience\nActive Professional Engineer license in a U.S. state or jurisdiction. California licensure is not required at the time of application\nAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors\nJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job\nAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines\nAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner\nProfessional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)\nAdvanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials\nEffort-hour estimating and staff forecasting\nPractical field experience\nIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs\nOther Job Requirements\nDemonstrated power-distribution engineering experience, including medium-voltage systems and equipment\nExperience with electrical calculations, power-system studies, equipment specifications, and design documents\nAbility to exercise independent technical judgment and coordinate within a multidisciplinary project environment\nPreferred Qualifications\nElectrical engineering education emphasizing power systems\nPower-generation or electrical power-plant engineering experience\nExperience with medium-voltage switchgear, motor controllers, transformers, motors, generators, protective relays, and grounding systems\nExperience with ETAP, SKM Power*Tools, EasyPower, or comparable analysis software\nExperience with protective-device coordination, arc-flash, short-circuit, load-flow, motor-starting, and grounding studies\nTransmission, substation, utility-interconnection, testing, commissioning, startup, or electrical Area Lead experience\nWe are an equal opportunity employer.
