If this sounds like a culture you would like to work in, you’re invited to apply for this role.\nJob Description\nThe purpose of this position is to provide electrical engineering leadership, technical direction, and project execution expertise for gas-fired combined-cycle (CCGT/NGCC) and simple-cycle gas turbine (SCGT) power generation EPC projects. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. The position serves as an Electrical Area Lead / Electrical Engineering Lead on assigned projects and is responsible for leading the electrical engineering scope from project development and design through procurement, construction support, commissioning, and start-up support. The role requires demonstrated experience delivering electrical systems for large-scale gas turbine power generation facilities and the ability to coordinate electrical engineering activities across multiple disciplines, project functions, engineering offices, vendors, and construction teams. The successful candidate will apply advanced engineering techniques and project execution practices to develop safe, reliable, code-compliant, and cost-effective electrical solutions for gas-fired power projects. The successful candidate shall also possess demonstrated experience with high voltage generation interconnections, switchyards, substations, and utility. The role requires a strong background in electrical power system studies and the application of analysis software such as ETAP to evaluate system performance, reliability, protection coordination, and regulatory compliance.\nLong Description\nTranslate global strategic initiatives into procedures to be implemented on projects\nApply cost competitive execution techniques to develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline engineering work\nDevelop and review project Scope of Services, Scope of Facilities, and other project baseline documents for all phases of projects\nDevelop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts\nEstablish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts\nDevelop and review specifications, including design criteria\nIncorporate health, safety, and environmental factors in design\nDevelop and update job execution plans\nLead development and review of electrical systems commonly associated with gas turbine and combined-cycle power plants, including:\nGenerator and generator auxiliary electrical systems\nGenerator step-up and station service transformers\nMedium-voltage and low-voltage distribution\nMV/LV switchgear and motor control centers\nGas turbine and steam turbine auxiliary power systems\nBalance-of-plant electrical systems\nEmergency and standby power systems\nDC systems, batteries, and UPS systems\nGrounding and lightning protection\nElectrical protection, metering, and control systems\nElectrical power system studies, including load flow, short-circuit, motor starting, arc flash, grounding, relay coordination, transient stability, harmonic, and voltage drop analyses utilizing ETAP, or equivalent software.\nPlant and equipment grounding\nRaceway, cable tray, and underground distribution systems\nPlant lighting and small power\nElectrical interfaces with turbine OEM packages and major equipment vendors\nHigh voltage electrical systems, including generator interconnections, switchyards, substations, transmission interfaces, protective relaying schemes, and utility coordination requirements.\nBasic Job Requirements\nAccredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in engineering field of study and eight (8) years of work-related experience; a recognized professional certification or registration in the applicable field, if required; some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements\nProfessional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering, with the ability to obtain licensure by comity/reciprocity in multiple states\nAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors\nJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job\nAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines\nAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner\nProfessional registration and membership in technical society (preferred)\nAdvanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials\nEffort-hour estimating and staff forecasting\nManaging and leading a large project\nProject set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting and project close-out\nPractical field experience\nIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs\nOther Job Requirements\nPower Plant Electrical Power System Design\nAct as Electrical Discipline focal point for projects\nCoordinate Electrical Design with other engineering disciplines\nSupport development of electrical estimates.\nKnowledge of medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems\nElectrical design deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, equipment layouts, power plans, lighting plans, grounding, and underground distribution\nMajor Electrical Equipment specification/data sheet development for switchgear, transformers, and Motor control centers\nSchematic Development\nDevelop construction work packages, material estimates and IFC drawings\nIdentify scope and schedule changes\nConduct checking and independent review of all electrical discipline deliverables\nSupport construction and commissioning activities as required\nMentor junior engineer team members.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC)\nExperience with HV/MV distribution\nExperience in High Voltage switchyards and grid connections.\nEffort-hour estimating and staff forecasting\nManaging and leading a design team on a large project\nProject set-up, developing control-level schedules, progress reporting, and project close-out\nPractical field experience including testing, commissioning, and start-up\nIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs\nETAP and/or SKM Power System Analysis Software\nFamiliarity with Revit, Smart Plant Electrical, Smart Plant 3D, and other electrical design software\nWe are an equal opportunity employer.
