This position has oversight of a specific area, and acts as a representative to the department ensuring technical accuracy in project execution in all phases. If you value teamwork and empowerment in your career, and are eager to champion innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients, this opportunity just may be for you!\nAs Structural Lead Engineer you will be:\nPerform CSA design development in several project phases e.g. conceptual design, front-end design, detail engineering and design for integration of new facilities in revamp type projects as well for ‘small’ grass-root type of multi-disciplinary projects.\nLeading in structural, civil and geotechnical design within the projects and writing of contractor’s scope of works.\nSupervision, planning, organization of the work:\nLead /coordinate a Civil Structural design team\nPrepare schedules, man-hour estimates, manpower forecasts.\nCommunicate and align with clients, vendors and other disciplines.\nSupervise and act as mentor for a junior level designer of junior level engineer.\nPromote and support value improvements, initiatives and continuous performance improvement.\nParticipate in design reviews within the project team.\nWorks independently, controls / leads small teams including work sharing with foreign offices.\nAssure quality of work assigned; assure technical integrity of design documents.\nProactive reporting project status and constraints.\nPrepare and check man-hour estimates and material estimates, and monthly budget reports for all engineering efforts.\nPerform technical bid evaluations of received bids of suppliers.\nDevelop and review estimates and schedules, progress reports, including manpower forecasts Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts\nDevelop and review specifications, including design criteria\nParticipate in activities associated with structural procurement packages, permitting, and subcontracting\nPerform and check calculations, and solve problems of complex to difficult engineering complexity\nParticipate in people development through mentoring, development of training material, conducting training seminars, and performance appraisal input and counseling\nAnalyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines\nIndicate strong technical interests and background with structural engineering\nCapable to undertake structural engineering work related to resource project development and construction\nOther duties as assigned\nBasic Job Requirements\nBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.\nSixteen (16) years of experience as a Professional Structural Engineer working with Canadian and American design codes to complete designs of steel and/or concrete structures in the industrial sector.\nMinimum of 10 years’ experience in mining and metal projects\nMinimum 5 years of experience as Lead Engineer in a mining and Metal project. This is non negotiable.\nCompetent and proven record in technical leadership roles.\nDiscipline project execution related skills and experience\nExperience working in revamp projects is an asset.\nExperience in interdisciplinary coordination\nAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.\nDriven to independently complete assigned tasks in a time-effective manner\n Registered as Professional engineer (P.Eng) in EGBC or ability to do so is a must.\nOther Job Requirements\nPreferred Qualifications\nAdvanced knowledge of discipline codes and standards, commercial availability and cost of materials\nPast record as Structural Lead engineer of a large Mining/Metals Projects\nRelevant practical field experience\nIntermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation program\nFluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment.
