Serving as a trusted advisor and competent hands-on contracts manager, this role ensures contractual compliance, mitigates risk, and drives proactive claims avoidance strategies throughout the contract lifecycle from inception to close-out. The position demands deep expertise in contract law, advanced commercial acumen, and the ability to shape and implement contracting strategies that align organizational and project objectives.\nKey Responsibilities\nStrategic Contract Management: Lead and manage the day to day administration of potentially multiple, large-scale contracts from formation through close-out, ensuring compliance with contractual terms, client requirements, and governing laws.\nComplex Project Expertise: Oversee major offsite and onsite module contracts under unit price and reimbursable models, ensuring alignment with execution plans.\nCommercial Leadership: Develop and execute contracting strategies that optimize value, mitigate risk, and support day-to-day project delivery objectives.\nRisk & Claims Management: Anticipate and manage contractual risks; implement robust claims prevention programs and lead equitable resolution strategies.\nClient Advocacy: Represent both client’s and Fluor’s interests in all contractual matters, ensuring adherence to prime contract obligations and safeguarding commercial outcomes.\nNegotiation & Formation: Direct negotiations of complex terms and conditions; prepare flow-down provisions; draft special terms and secure legal approvals.\nPerformance Oversight: Monitor day-to-day contractor performance, schedule adherence, change management, and invoicing accuracy to maintain contractual integrity.\nCross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with project management, legal, engineering, construction, project controls, procurement, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution.\nGovernance & Reporting: Deliver regular and timely executive-level reporting on contract health, risk exposure, and commercial performance to senior leadership.\nMentorship & Capability Building: Coach and develop contract management teams; lead training initiatives to embed best practices across the organization.\nWork Location: Various locations including Calgary, and Site\nBasic Job Requirements\nEducation: Bachelor’s degree in business, Law, or related field; advanced degree (MBA or JD) strongly preferred.\nExperience: 15+ years of progressive contract management experience, including leadership roles on major EPC or LSTK projects; strong knowledge of Canadian Contract Law and global commercial principles.\nTechnical Expertise: Proven ability to manage complex, multi-contract portfolios under varied compensation structures; extensive experience in claims avoidance and dispute resolution. Proven track record of day-to-day contract management in both home office and site settings.\nSkills: Understanding compensation structures (lump sum, unit prices, and costs reimbursable models). Exceptional negotiation, strategic thinking, and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to influence all organizational levels and deliver results in high-pressure environments.\nPreferred: International project exposure both pre-award and post-award experience, and prior experience with Fluor or similar global EPC organizations.\nOther Job Requirements\nCommercial Acumen: Expert understanding of compensation structures, contract law, risk management, and financial implications of contractual decisions.\nLeadership: Ability to lead contract teams and foster collaborative relationships with clients and contractors.\nStrategic Vision: Skilled in developing and executing contracting strategies that drive business objectives.\nClaims Management: Advanced capability in preventing and resolving claims efficiently and equitably.\nPreferred Qualifications\nFluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment.
