This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor’s competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as a Discipline Material Control on assigned projects or reports to Discipline Lead Material Controllers on assigned projects of difficult complexity. Has working knowledge of Fluor’s practices and guidelines.\nMaterial Control Planning\nDevelop and maintain the Structural Material Control Plan in alignment with project execution plans and material responsibility matrix\nAlign material control activities with project schedules, CWP structure, and construction sequencing\nEstablish and maintain Material Control Level Schedules\nMaterial Take-Off (MTO) & Quantity Management\nInitiate, validate, and maintain structural material take-offs (MTOs) (steel, concrete, rebar, anchors, etc.)\nPerform quantity verification, cross-checking, and change control of structural materials\nTrack quantities through stages (baseline, control, forecast, IFC) and maintain audit trail\nProcurement & Requisitioning\nPrepare and manage material requisitions (RFQ/PO) and support procurement processes\nCoordinate with engineering and procurement on technical documentation and specifications\nEnsure requisition timing aligns with project schedules and delivery requirements\nMaterial Tracking & Systems\nUtilize MaterialManager® / MQMS/ Quantifier systems to manage structural material data, forecasting, and reporting\nMaintain catalogs, material codes, and piece-mark tracking for fabricated steel (if applicable)\nMonitor procurement status (required, ordered, received)\nReporting & Forecasting\nDevelop and maintain key quantity reports and material trend reports\nForecast structural material quantities and identify risks or shortages\nSupport monthly reporting for project controls and management\nCoordination\nInterface with engineering, procurement, material planning, construction, and fabricators\nSupport material planning, expediting priorities, and delivery strategies\nAssist with fabrication drawing review and piece-mark tracking\nMaterial Planning & Site Support\nSupport material availability planning and expediting strategies\nAssist warehouse and construction teams with:\nMaterial receiving (MRR)\nShortage resolution\nSurplus minimization\nBasic Job Requirements\nAccredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years if non-degreed; some locations may have additional or different qualifications to comply with local requirements\nMinimum 3 years’ experience in structural materials (steel, concrete, rebar systems) management\nFamiliarity with MTO processes, fabrication workflows, and EPC projects\nExperience with material control systems (MaterialManager®, MQMS, Quantifier etc.) preferred\nAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors\nJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job\nAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines\nAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner\nOther Job Requirements\nPreferred Qualifications\nStrong understanding of structural materials and drawings\nStrong understanding of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Construction Work Package (CWP)\nFamiliarity with structural analysis software and 3D modelling software such as RISA 3D and Navisworks\nProficient in conducting material take-offs at preliminary engineering levels and detailed engineering levels\nAbility to manage large datasets and perform quantity reconciliation\nProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel\nAnalytical skills in quantity tracking and forecasting\nAttention to detail and data accuracy\nStrong coordination and communication skills\nUnderstanding of construction sequencing and logistics\nFluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment.
