Working closely with the Head of Finance, you will help implement the systems, processes and controls that underpin a high-performing finance organisation. Initially, you will support our finance transformation programme and transition to internally produced reporting. Over time, you will take ownership of month-end close, management accounts, cash reporting, reconciliations, tax compliance and day-to-day finance operations. This is a unique opportunity to make a visible impact, work closely with senior leadership, and help shape the financial foundations of a fast-growing deep-tech company.\nKey Responsibilities\nFinance transformation and systems\nSupport the transition to a fully in-house finance function by improving financial records, data structures, processes and controls.\nBuild and maintain scalable accounting schedules, working papers, month-end checklists and reporting packs.\nSupport the configuration and optimisation of Xero, Dext, ApprovalMax and any other financial systems including the chart of accounts, cost centres, project codes and approval routes.\nMonth-end close and management reporting\nManage month-end timetable and prepare journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, fixed-asset schedules and balance-sheet reconciliations.\nReview ledger integrity, coding, cut-off and supporting evidence, investigating differences and escalating material or unusual matters to the Head of Finance.\nPrepare monthly management accounts, cash and working-capital reporting, financial KPIs and clear variance analysis for finance and non-finance stakeholders.\nSupport budgeting and reforecasting, and the development of manufacturing, inventory, project and capital-expenditure accounting as FluoRok scales its pilot and commercial operations.\nTransactional finance, banking and cash\nOversee purchase and sales ledger accounting, including invoice coding, VAT treatment, supplier records, revenue cut-off, credit-control visibility and supplier statement reconciliations.\nPrepare supplier payment runs, review employee expenses and complete bank and card reconciliations.\nMonitor and report daily cash balances.\nTax, audit, payroll and statutory support\nPrepare VAT returns and supporting reconciliations for approval, and provide schedules and information for statutory accounts, corporation tax, R&D tax and audit requirements.\nCoordinate authorised payroll changes, maintain payroll and pension records, prepare payroll inputs and journals, and reconcile payroll-related control accounts.\nSystems and Team support\nDocument finance processes, controls and timetables, and support continuous improvement across the finance function.\nCoach and support the Accounts & Administration Assistant on daily transactional processes, providing cover where appropriate.\nRequirements\nPart-qualified or newly qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).\nExperience preparing management accounts and supporting month-end close processes.\nStrong understanding of journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and financial controls.\nWorking knowledge of VAT, payroll accounting and cash reporting.\nAdvanced Excel skills \nExperience with cloud-based accounting systems eg Xero desirable.\nClear and collaborative communicator, eager to further develop their skillset. \nWell organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities.\nAnalytical, proactive and comfortable working at pace in a fast-growing technology scale-up environment.\nBenefits\nSalary range -
