Sensor Validation & Calibration Engineer (100%)

Starting date: as soon as possible

Your role:

We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Sensor Validation & Calibration Engineer to join our Sensor team and own how the sensors on our inspection drones are tested, calibrated and qualified, from the first prototype to the production line. The sensor suite includes cameras, lidars, IMUs, barometers, magnetometers and GNSS. Your job is to prove that they perform as specified once mounted on the drone, in the environments our customers inspect, and to build the calibration benches and test procedures that make this repeatable in production.

You will design and run test campaigns, build calibration and test benches together with the mechanical and electronics teams, analyze flight-test data, and transfer calibration processes to manufacturing. You will also be the team's reference on inertial sensors and vibration. This role suits someone who cares about measurement rigor and uncertainty as much as about fixtures, motion stages and bench software, and who is comfortable owning a topic end to end in a small R&D team.

What you will own:

• Designing, building and qualifying the calibration benches used in production for cameras, IMUs and lidars.
• Defining and running the test plans that validate sensors on the drone: characterization, environmental tests (temperature, shock, vibration), flight-test data analysis.
• Owning calibration procedures and their acceptance criteria: intrinsic, extrinsic, IMU and camera-IMU, with uncertainty estimation.
• Being the team's reference on inertial sensors: IMU selection and error modeling, vibration isolation and mounting with the mechanical team.
• Integrating sensors mechanically with the mechanical team: mounting, alignment, thermal behavior, sealing, field of view.
• Transferring calibration and end-of-line tests to manufacturing, and analyzing production data to keep them under control.

Requirements

Your profile:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Physics, Robotics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in sensor test, calibration, metrology or system validation, including at least one calibration or test bench delivered into production.
• Hands-on experience designing test setups and fixtures for electromechanical systems and running environmental tests (temperature, shock, vibration).
• Experience with inertial sensors: IMU characterization, Allan variance, error modeling, vibration isolation.
• Experience with camera or lidar calibration (intrinsic, extrinsic, camera-IMU) and the associated targets and tooling.
• Proficient in Python for data acquisition, analysis and test automation, and comfortable with lab instrumentation and automated measurement. Some Rust is a plus.
• Experience with drones, robotics or aerospace platforms; flight-test or field data analysis is a strong asset
• Able to work autonomously on a topic where you are the reference, and to document and hand over procedures to production.
• Basic PCB design in KiCad for test and adapter boards or component qualification with suppliers are a plus.
• Professional working proficiency in English; French or additional languages are an asset.
