Their work brings together robotics, AI, perception, embedded software and physical hardware to create autonomous systems that can perform reliably beyond controlled laboratory conditions.\nThis is an opportunity to join a small, highly technical engineering team where you’ll have meaningful ownership of the robotics software, contribute to architectural decisions and see your work move from simulation to real-world testing.\nWhat you'll own:\nRobotics & autonomy software: Design, develop and maintain software that enables autonomous robotic systems to perceive, navigate and operate in complex environments.\n\nSoftware architecture: Build scalable and reliable robotics software, working with C++, Python and ROS2 to develop and integrate components across the autonomy stack.\n\nSimulation & sim-to-real: Develop and improve simulation workflows using Gazebo and/or NVIDIA Isaac, helping bring algorithms and software from simulation onto physical platforms.\n\nSystem integration: Work closely with perception, controls, embedded and hardware engineers to ensure different parts of the system operate together reliably.\n\nReal-world testing: Participate in integration, debugging, validation and testing on physical robotic systems, using real-world results to improve software performance.\n\nTechnical ownership: Take responsibility for your work from initial design through implementation, testing and deployment, contributing to technical decisions as the product evolves.\n\nWho we are looking for:\nStrong software engineering experience in robotics, autonomous systems or a closely related field.\n\nHands-on experience developing software in C++ and Python.\n\nPractical experience with ROS2, including developing and integrating robotics software components.\n\nExperience working with Gazebo and/or NVIDIA Isaac for robotics simulation.\n\nGood understanding of robotics software architecture and how different components interact within an autonomous system.\n\nExperience working with physical robotic platforms and solving integration challenges beyond simulation.\n\nAbility to take ownership of complex engineering problems and deliver practical, reliable solutions.\n\nComfortable working in English within a collaborative, multidisciplinary engineering team.\n\nNice to have:\nExperience with UAVs, drones or other autonomous vehicles.\n\nFamiliarity with PX4 or other autopilot frameworks.\n\nExperience with navigation, SLAM, sensor fusion or motion planning.\n\nExposure to guidance and control algorithms.\n\nExperience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, field testing or embedded systems.\n\nPrevious experience in defence, aerospace or other safety-critical engineering environments.\n\nWhat kind of engineer will thrive here:\nOwnership-driven - you enjoy taking responsibility for complete features and systems, not just isolated development tasks.\n\nHands-on and pragmatic - you’re equally comfortable writing software, investigating integration issues and testing on physical hardware.\n\nComfortable with ambiguity - you can make progress when requirements are evolving and not every process has been established.\n\nSystems-minded - you understand that reliable autonomy depends on how software, sensors, algorithms and hardware work together.\n\nCurious and adaptable - you enjoy learning new technologies, exploring unfamiliar problems and working across engineering disciplines.\n\nCollaborative - you communicate clearly, share knowledge and enjoy solving challenging problems alongside a small technical team.\n\nWhy join now\nYou’ll be joining at an early stage, when important engineering decisions are still being made and individual contributions can have a direct impact on the product.\nUnlike roles focused exclusively on research or simulation, this opportunity offers the chance to work across the full development cycle - from software architecture and algorithm integration to testing autonomous systems in the physical world.\nYou’ll work closely with experienced engineers across robotics, AI, perception and embedded systems, helping build European autonomous defence technology with real operational applications.\nIf you’re a robotics engineer who enjoys building complete systems, taking technical ownership and seeing your software operate on real hardware, we’d love to hear from you","description_format":"text","description_chars":4564,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Blockchain & Crypto","Venture Capital"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-29T17:34:09Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":27,"band":"fade","label":"Fading","p_open":1,"p_active":0.487,"p_room":0.55,"age_days":39,"expected_fill_days":27,"reasons":["conf:3","win:tail"],"computed_at":"2026-11-07T05:47:08Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/flyer-one-ventures-robotics-autonomy-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/flyer-one-ventures-robotics-autonomy-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-08T03:57:15Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":8560,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-09T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":706393},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=706393"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fflyer-one-ventures-robotics-autonomy-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fflyer-one-ventures-robotics-autonomy-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fflyer-one-ventures-robotics-autonomy-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/flyer-one-ventures-robotics-autonomy-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fflyer-one-ventures-robotics-autonomy-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3472472}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"flyerone.vc","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3472472},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
