This is a paid internship starting Monday, May 17 through Friday, August 6, working up to 40 hours per week for the summer, with the potential to turn into a full-time, permanent position in the future.\nWe are looking for currently-enrolled college students who are close to the West Des Moines area, as this is not a remote internship.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nEducation: Currently enrolled at an undergraduate college or university (Juniors and Seniors may get preference), majoring in Risk Management and Insurance, Agricultural Business, Business Administration or related field. (May 2027 graduates will not be eligible). \nSkills: Written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.\nRESPONSIBILITIES:\nAssists Underwriters with the preparation, keying, and review of acreage reports, hail applications, and amendments.\nLearns and applies the fundamentals of crop insurance.\nSupports departmental projects focused on improving efficiencies within Underwriting.\nParticipates in job shadowing opportunities with the Claims team to gain exposure to claims processes.\nAccompanies the Sales team on agency visits to observe and learn about client interactions and relationship management.\nProvides general administrative support to Underwriting and other departments as needed.\nContribute to special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nOffice environment with individual workspace provided.\nCasual dress.\nOn-site fitness center and cafeteria.\nEmployee appreciation events.\nOpportunity to participate in company-wide activities.\nThis position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization by Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company, SI.
