Installation quality matters.\nWhat You’ll Do\nInstallation & Commissioning\nPrepare and maintain deployment equipment and materials\n\nPerform on-site installation of electromechanical heating systems\nMost installations follow structured checklists and documented procedures.\n\nRead and interpret install documentation\n\nPerform system commissioning, including:\nComputer-based system registration\n\nMechanical integrity checks\n\nElectrical verification\n\nNetworking equipment setup and connectivity validation\n\nFunctional testing and calibration\n\nEnsure installations meet internal quality and safety standards\n\nTroubleshooting & Field Engineering\nPerform basic troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and networking components.\n\nReplace units, perform repairs, and validate issues and fixes.\n\nExecute scheduled maintenance visits.\n\nDocument site conditions and service outcomes.\n\nLight Operational Support\n\nFlag recurring issues to engineering via forms or service logs\n\nMaintain clean service logs\n\nSuggest small improvements to install checklists\n\nCoordinate install timing with site managers\n\nYou Might Be a Fit If You\nHave technical training in mechanical, electrical, robotics, or a related field or equivalent hands-on experience installing or servicing connected hardware systems\n\nHave 1-3 years of experience in hardware installation, field service, IoT devices, or similar hands-on technical work\n\nAre comfortable using hand tools, power tools, laptops, and basic diagnostic software\n\nCan follow detailed installation checklists and documentation with high attention to quality\n\nApproach troubleshooting logically and know when to escalate more complex issues\n\nTake pride in clean, organized work and professional job sites\n\nCommunicate clearly and confidently with customers and site staff\n\nTake ownership of your installs and service visits: you don’t leave a site until it’s done right\n\nPhysical & Field Requirements\nAbility to stand and move for extended periods during installation and service visits\n\nAbility to lift and carry equipment and materials up to 50 lbs\n\nComfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, light rain)\n\nAbility to use ladders and work at moderate heights when required\n\nComfortable working in active restaurant or hospitality environments\n\nAbility to bend, kneel, crouch, and perform hands-on mechanical work\n\nBonus Experience\nStartup hardware experience\n\nDegree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, robotics, or related field\n\nField deployments of physical infrastructure (energy, robotics, IoT, HVAC, etc.)\n\nNetworking knowledge (WiFi troubleshooting, routers, signal strength analysis)\n\nExperience with reliability testing or environmental validation\n\nRestaurant or hospitality installation experience\n\nGrowth Path\nThis role has a clear path toward increased responsibility in field operations, advanced troubleshooting, and deployment leadership as the company scales.\nDetails\n$75,000-$90,000/yr\n\nOn-site in San Francisco (SOMA), street parking only but 2 blocks from BART\n\nDaily lunch provided\n\nIn addition to base salary, employees are eligible for company-sponsored benefits and other benefits made available to Focal team members.\n\n Equal Opportunity Employment\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our workforce.
