Backed by The Brydon Group, FOCUS is poised for rapid growth and looking for dynamic individuals to join our team.\nPosition Summary\nFOCUS Learning is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Senior Accountant/Controller to own our day-to-day accounting operations. This is a high-impact role for an accounting professional who is either a strong Senior Accountant ready to grow into a Controller-level position, or an experienced Controller comfortable remaining hands-on with the day-to-day work. The Accountant/Controller will own the full accounting cycle, from daily bookkeeping and reconciliations to month-end close and audit support, while partnering closely with finance leadership to provide insights that shape strategic decisions. This role requires someone who can take immediate ownership of our NetSuite ERP system and thrives in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.\nPosition Duties & Responsibilities\nThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:\nAccounting Operations\nOwn the full accounting cycle, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, reconciliations and monthly/annual close\nOwn the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close in NetSuite, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and balance sheet reconciliations\nPrepare accurate, timely GAAP financial statements and supporting schedules for the CFO, executive team, board, investors, and lender reporting\nApply ASC 606 revenue recognition to SaaS subscriptions, professional services, and multi-year contracts, and maintain deferred revenue schedules\nMaintain the close calendar and checklist, and work to shorten the close timeline over time\nServe as the primary in-house owner of FOCUS Learning's NetSuite ERP system\nBilling, Accounts Receivable & Collections\nPrepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time, including subscription renewals, services, and milestone billing\nOwn the AR aging and collections process, following up directly with customers and partnering with Sales and Customer Success to resolve past-due balances\nApply cash receipts, reconcile customer accounts, and maintain clean customer and contract data\nProvide visibility into expected collections to support the CFO's cash flow forecast\nAccounts Payable, Payroll & Cash\nOversee accounts payable, including vendor setup, invoice processing, approvals, and payment runs\nReview and record payroll and benefits activity, and support payroll processes across entities\nMonitor daily cash activity and complete timely bank and credit card reconciliations\nNetSuite & Process Improvement\nServe as the in-house NetSuite expert for accounting, billing, AR, and reporting workflows\nTroubleshoot issues, build saved searches and reports, and coordinate with outside consultants on configuration as needed\nIdentify manual processes and implement automation and controls that help the finance function scale\nAudit, Compliance & Analysis\nPrepare schedules and documentation for the annual external audit and serve as a primary point of contact for the audit team\nMaintain internal controls and documented accounting policies and procedures\nSupport sales tax, 1099, and other compliance filings in coordination with outside advisors\nSupport the CFO with budgets, forecasts, variance analysis, board materials, and the integration of acquired businesses\nMinimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)\n4-7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including time in public accounting and in-house at a small or mid-sized company. Senior Accountants ready for the next step and early-career Controllers are both encouraged to apply.\nNetSuite experience is required. The ideal candidate works comfortably in NetSuite day to day, including journal entries, invoicing, AR, reconciliations, and reporting, without needing training on the fundamentals.\nStrong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and a track record of closing the books accurately and on time. SaaS or subscription revenue experience and familiarity with ASC 606 are a strong plus.\nWillingness to work across the full finance function, from technical accounting to billing, collections, and AP.
