You’ll play a critical role in supporting our AWS data warehouse environment while partnering cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and business leaders to ensure our data systems scale securely and reliably as the business grows.\nWhat you’ll do:\nOwn database reliability, performance, and availability\nLead administration, monitoring, tuning, and optimization of Microsoft SQL Server and Amazon Redshift environments\n\nDesign and maintain high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies that meet business SLAs\n\nLead data warehouse operations in AWS\nOwn and optimize our AWS-based data warehouse architecture, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost efficiency\n\nPartner with Data and Analytics teams to support reporting, analytics, and downstream AI use cases\n\nManage database security and access controls\nOwn database security across platforms, including user access, roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing\n\nPartner with Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure compliance with internal standards and external requirements\n\nProactively identify and mitigate risks related to data access, integrity, and availability\n\nCollaborate cross-functionally\nWork closely with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Analytics teams to align database solutions with product and business needs\n\nCommunicate database risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including leadership\n\nDrive operational excellence and automation\nImprove reliability through automation, scripting, and proactive monitoring\n\nLeverage modern tooling and AI-assisted capabilities to reduce manual work and improve operational signal\n\nAI Fluent\nHelp drive our database architecture with systems thinking mindset.\n\nUse AI to maintain, scale, and improve our dba operations and archtiecture.\n\nWho you are:\nYou might thrive in this role if you have 7+ years of experience managing production database environments\n\nDeep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, indexing, and HA/DR\n\nStrong hands-on experience with AWS data warehouse technologies, including Amazon Redshift\n\nProven experience managing database security, access controls, and permissions in regulated or security-conscious environments\n\nComfortable working cross-functionally with Product, Infrastructure, Engineering, and leadership teams\n\nDemonstrated AI fluency and curiosity, with experience using automation or AI-enabled tools to improve reliability, monitoring, or efficiency\n\nNice to have:\nExperience with additional AWS services (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, monitoring/logging tools)\n\nExposure to data engineering pipelines or analytics platforms\n\nLocation:\nThis role is primarily remote (US based) and will work in EST hours, with the expectation of occasional visits to our offices for team collaboration, training, or company events.\nThis role may be based remotely out of the following states: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin.\nAbout us\nAt Foley, we’re reimagining how safety-sensitive industries hire, stay compliant, and manage risk.
