Crews may transition to other projects within the region as work is completed.\nWork arrangement: On-site work supporting distribution.\nEmployment type: Full-time, permanent or temporary\n Schedule: Monday to Friday, with frequent overtime and weekend work as project requirements dictate.\nThe Opportunity\nWorking under the direction of a Foreman or Construction Manager, the Apprentice Powerline Technician assists with the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power systems. You will support transmission and distribution work, including installing cables, inspecting equipment, and helping troubleshoot electrical systems.\nThis opportunity suits someone with powerline or related industry experience who wants to develop their trade skills and work toward certification. You will gain practical experience alongside a field crew while learning to interpret construction drawings, solve problems, and complete work safely in varying site conditions.\nKey Elements of the Role\nAssist with the construction, installation, maintenance, and removal of overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines and equipment.\nSupport inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to high- and low-voltage power systems, substations, and related electrical components under crew direction.\nTransport materials and assist with installing and maintaining power cables, including laying underground cable in trenches.\nDevelop the ability to read and interpret site plans, construction drawings, and work instructions.\nFollow company safety requirements and safe work practices, recognize hazards, apply appropriate controls, and ask for clarification when needed.\nCommunicate clearly with crew members and supervision, contribute to safety improvements, and help complete assigned work efficiently and within project deadlines.\nEnrol in and complete required training and documentation toward Lineman certification.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nAt least six months of experience in the powerline industry or a related field.\nAbility to accurately distinguish colours used in electrical components and systems.\nStrong safety awareness, with the ability to recognize hazards and apply the hierarchy of controls to eliminate or reduce risks.\nStrong listening, problem-solving, and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.\nClear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to follow direction and complete assigned tasks independently or as part of a crew with minimal supervision.\nAbility to perform physically demanding work, including manual labour and heavy lifting, in varying weather and site conditions.\nA valid driver’s licence, minimum Class 5, and a clean and acceptable driver’s abstract.
