Group of Companies delivers transmission, distribution, substation, and related power infrastructure projects across Canada and the United States.\nOur work spans field construction, project delivery, operations, and corporate support in an environment where safety, execution, and reliability matter.\nThe Opportunity\nLead the environmental program for a transmission line construction project in the North Central United States.\nReporting to the Director of Environment, the Project Environmental Manager serves as the project’s senior environmental lead, guiding field Environmental Specialists and working directly with project and construction leadership. You will turn environmental requirements into practical field direction, anticipate risks, and support responsible project delivery from planning through reclamation and closeout.\nThis is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced environmental professional who wants ownership of a project environmental program, meaningful involvement in construction decisions, and the opportunity to develop a field team.\nWhat You’ll Do\nLead environmental compliance: Implement the project environmental program and ensure construction activities meet regulatory approvals, permit conditions, client requirements, and company standards.\nPartner with construction leadership: Integrate environmental requirements into work plans and schedules, giving internal crews and subcontractors clear, practical direction.\nManage risks in the field: Identify environmental constraints, develop mitigation measures, and stop or redirect work when required to address environmental risks or non-compliance.\nLead and develop the environmental team: Coordinate field coverage, set priorities, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to Environmental Specialists.\nOversee incident response: Lead spill response coordination, environmental incident investigations, reporting, and corrective actions.\nManage plans and stakeholder relationships: Prepare and review environmental plans and procedures, and serve as the primary project contact for environmental matters with clients and other stakeholders.\nSupport reclamation and closeout: Coordinate pre- and post-construction environmental activities, assessments, and reclamation planning and implementation.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nA bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental science, physical or biological science, or a closely related field.\nEight to ten years of dedicated, full-time experience leading environmental practitioners in an industrial setting, preferably in electrical utilities or construction.\nStrong knowledge of environmental regulations, industry practices, and environmental management systems applicable to linear infrastructure construction.\nPractical experience managing environmental compliance on active construction sites, including erosion and sediment control, stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP), spill prevention and response, access management, wildlife protection, and reclamation.\nDemonstrated ability to work directly with construction supervision, exercise sound judgment, and provide clear direction when work needs to stop or change.\nStrong planning, communication, and relationship-building skills, including experience coordinating environmental activities with construction schedules and managing client and regulatory stakeholder requirements.\nAbility to produce clear, professional environmental plans and reports and work confidently with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Adobe.\nExperience on large-scale transmission, pipeline, road, rail, or similar infrastructure projects is preferred. Experience working with U.S. federal, state, and local environmental agencies is an asset.\nProject & Work Schedule\nProject location: This role supports the R-Project in Nebraska, initially based in Stapleton. Work assignments may move along the project route as construction progresses.\nSite-based work & travel: We welcome local candidates and applicants from other cities who are willing to travel to Nebraska and stay near the assigned worksite during their rotations. On-site attendance is required throughout each work rotation.\nAnticipated rotation: Three weeks on, followed by one week off.\nAnticipated workweek: Six ten-hour days, with Sundays off during the work rotation.\nPer diem: $200 USD per day worked to support accommodation and living expenses while working away from home.\nTravel arrangements: The company pays for initial mobilization to the project and final demobilization home. Travel home between rotations is the employee’s responsibility and is not reimbursed separately.\nAnticipated project duration: Approximately three years, with individual assignment duration dependent on project needs.\nFlexibility: Work locations, rotation, and working hours may change with construction sequencing and critical project phases.\n Employment requirements: Legal eligibility to work in the United States, completion of background screening and a criminal record check, and successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing for site access.\nThe range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements.\nThis range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.\nBase Pay Range\n$50—$58 USD\nForbes Bros.
