Ford is an American automaker founded in Dearborn in 1903 by Henry Ford, who introduced the moving assembly line and turned the car into a mass-market product. It is now organised into three businesses reported separately: Ford Blue for internal combustion vehicles, Model e for electric vehicles and software, and Ford Pro for commercial customers, which bundles vans and trucks with telematics, servicing and charging under multi-year contracts. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange and still partly controlled by the founding family through a special class of shares, its F-Series pickup has been the best selling vehicle in the United States for decades.

The Engineering Section Supervisor leads and develops engineers and technicians, ensuring disciplined process control, effective change management, process validation, and continuous improvement. This leader partners with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Skilled Trades, and other engineering teams to remove barriers, resolve complex technical issues, and build lasting engineering capability.

At Ford, we design, build, and deliver high-quality vehicles that meet the diverse needs of our customers. Our employees-and the different perspectives, experiences, and expertise they bring-are fundamental to our success. Join a team committed to manufacturing excellence, innovation, environmental responsibility, and the communities in which we live and work.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers and technicians responsible for process, equipment, and systems performance within an assigned manufacturing area.
  • Drive rigorous Process Adherence to standardized work, engineering specifications, and manufacturing requirements, identifying and closing gaps between designed and actual process performance.
  • Own and drive Quality Operating System (QOS) adherence, ensuring quality metrics, escalation processes, corrective actions, and countermeasures are consistently applied.
  • Manage MTC (Manufacturing/Method-Time Change) and CCR (Change Control Request/Review) processes to ensure disciplined, documented, and validated implementation of product and process changes.
  • Lead DCP (Deviation Control Plan) management, ensuring deviations are properly documented, risk-assessed, controlled, and resolved through robust engineering countermeasures.
  • Apply structured project management methodology to plan, resource, execute, and deliver engineering projects, including product launches, process improvements, equipment installations, and capital projects, on time and within budget.
  • Lead process and equipment validation, ensuring new and modified manufacturing processes meet established safety, quality, capability, and production requirements prior to release.
  • Apply Ford Production System (FPS) principles to strengthen standardized processes, improve flow, eliminate waste, and drive continuous improvement across engineering and production systems.
  • Use data-driven and structured problem-solving methodologies, including Lean Six Sigma tools, to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Skilled Trades, and other technical organizations to align priorities, resources, and corrective actions.
  • Coach and develop team members through Leaders as Teachers practices, strengthening technical expertise, problem-solving capability, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Partner with Union Leadership, where applicable, to support engineering-driven process, organizational, and operational improvements.
  • Support succession planning, talent development, and competency growth through Professional Development Committee activities.
  • Provide technical leadership during production disruptions, launches, quality concerns, and other high-priority manufacturing situations.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related engineering discipline).
  • Broad technical and engineering experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Working knowledge of engineering change management processes, including MTC, CCR, DCP, or comparable systems, and process validation methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Quality Operating System (QOS) principles, process control, and process adherence practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with hourly employees, Skilled Trades, salaried personnel, technical specialists, and plant and engineering leadership.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including experience presenting technical results, recommendations, and issues to senior leadership.
  • Ability to teach and coach Ford Production System (FPS/Lean Manufacturing) principles and engineering standard work.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive fact-based engineering decisions, structured problem solving, and corrective actions.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical and cross-functional issues.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure, including production disruptions, crisis response, launch-readiness, and other time-critical situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Flexibility to work any shift based on business and operational requirements.
  • Demonstrated One Ford leadership behaviors, with strong interpersonal, team-building, collaboration, and communication skills.

Even better, you may have...

  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on project management experience, including project planning, resource allocation, budget management, risk management, and milestone delivery.
  • Experience leading manufacturing process and equipment validations.
  • Experience managing engineering change control processes, including MTC, CCR, and DCP, or comparable systems.
  • Strong computer and engineering systems proficiency, including experience with tools such as CAD, PLM, quality systems, and manufacturing/data-analysis systems.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to make timely, data-driven decisions.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

What You'll Bring

You are a technically strong engineering leader who can translate engineering standards into reliable manufacturing performance. You are comfortable working on the plant floor, leading teams, analyzing data, challenging gaps in process discipline, and driving issues through to sustainable resolution.

You combine strong technical judgment with effective people leadership and can communicate across all levels of the organization-from engineers, technicians, Skilled Trades, and production employees to plant and senior engineering leadership.

You understand that strong manufacturing performance depends on disciplined engineering fundamentals: process adherence, robust change control, effective validation, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement.

You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you think you can bring value to Ford Motor Company, we encourage you to apply!
